Vellux blankets sound like what you're after - innocuous, very light weight, available at many retailers in store and online, comes in lots of colors, washable.

I love their blankets. I own 6 pure and simple washable wool blankets. 3 are over 15 years old. They may be heavier than you want. I also own several of their Penobscot cotton blankets.

Their quality is fantastic.

Thanks for your replies and suggestions. I bought a Threadmill cotton weave from A. Budget friendly and easy enough to return if it doesn't look or feel right. My entire bedding situation, aside from sheets, could use an upgrade, but this will have to do for now.

I also like a woven cotton blanket for year-round use. I’ve bought just about every brand imaginable over the years. Good ones are hard to find, but i can usually count on Ralph Lauren and a few others from major dept stores to be very good. Sometimes even Target has them. I’m fairly certain that is where I bought a couple for our condo at the lake.

I don’t know what size bed you have but I’ve also shopped in the kids department sometimes for a full size cotton blanket and used it on a queen bed in summer. You don’t get much drop but it is fine for a light cover.

We have a Vellux type blanket and they are so soft. Bad news is that we can't keep it on the bed. Every am we have to practically remake the bed because this darn blanket is hanging half off the bed. We don't use it often due to this.

I love cotton blankets. I have 2 that are a thinner weave. Then I have 2 lush thick ones that you’d swear are wool but they are 100% cotton they are RL . I have 2 that are the lighest quilted down with satin trim and they float on the bed. There is one on our bed year round and we add and subtract others. All are name brands and came from Sierra Trading Post when it was a fantastic place to shop for everything.

@RNmomof2 zone 5 - that's too bad about the Vellux blanket. I havenn't had one since I was a kid which was a lot of years ago! Don't remember that issue but I slept in a twin up against a wall so less opportunity for fallng off. I just remember it being soft and light.

We've used a number of vellux blankets over the years and never had that issue of them 'walking' off the bed.

I use a washable wool blanket...no idea where it came from as it was ages ago I got it. It is lightweight yet warm. I see Vermont Country store carries them.

Of course my bedding changes with the seasons...the down comforter in the winter, the sheet and wool blanket with matelasse bedspread in spring and fall and just the sheet and bedspread in the summer.

One big thumbs down 👎 on the Vellux. While they are soft, I think they feel like a furry rubber sheet. They do not breathe! I could go on about how much I dislike them….

I’m late to the thread but am glad you ordered a woven cotton blanket. I bought one around 2014 when I moved to NM and it is still on my bed every day, over linen sheets. I add a linen comforter on top when it gets cold. My blanket came from Pendleton but it doesn’t look like they really carry them anymore.
