This was mine in my MCM ranch 1956 era @ stainless inks and black and stainless faucets I dislike black hardware on white cabinets so mine were all stainless .. Waht does your kitchen look like ? That is what matters not the style which can be quite flexible

I myself am MCM and I don’t think I ever saw a black faucet back then. The MCM aesthetic seems to have become just the ”modern” part, so do what goes with the look you want.

I want to stay true to the MCM vibe. I’m thinking a chrome/brushed nickel vibe might be the move

So there seems to be a now-a-days design style or vibe called MCM. And then there is the actual design of what things looked like in the mid-century around the 1950s and 1960s in the U.S., and likely elsewhere.

If you want to stay true to what things looked like in the 1960s, it is a matter or picking and choosing how much you want to actually stay historical with each kitchen selection. Do you want to forego a pull down faucet? Do you want a faucet the same shape as what actually existed in the 1950/60s?

Or, are you going for that current MCM vibe?

Neither is right or wrong, it is just what you want and what you think will look good.

When I designed my kitchen I used 1900s butler pantries as my inspiration. It didn't mean I had to make everything look exactly like a butler pantry. But I used it as a launch pad and a touch point for design choices. I got a champaign bronze pull down faucet that looked nothing like what existed then.

You just pick and choose as you go along.

If you want a black faucet with a stainless steel sink, you can have it. It's your home, it's your money, you can have what you like. (I don't mean that snarkily.) I'm not aware that black sink fixtures were ever used in MCM design, let alone typical of it. I don't think they were. But while I know a lot about MCM, I surely don't know everything about it, so I could be mistaken about that.

I agree completely with what Kendrah wrote. Now I would like to add my two cents.

Not only is there a difference between genuine MCM and MCM-inspired, there was a lot of variety in mid-20th-century design movements, even within the modern movement. Danish Modern is not the same as other European moderns, California Modern is not the same as other North American moderns (nor Danish Modern), Brazilian Modern is something else again.

You don’t have to know about all these things in order to appreciate MCM, of course, nor to enjoy having MCM-inspired design. But the more you know, the more deeply you can appreciate it. At least, I think so.

Eichler house kitchen (link). Most Eichlers have been renovated. I think the image at the link shows an original kitchen, but I can't be sure.

When I was researching faucets, I think that the black faucet finish requires more upkeep, and can discolor if scratched, and get water spots more easily, especially if you have hard water. So you may want to do some research on that before you make the decision.

I have a stainless sink and faucet, and black cabinet handles and it looks good. My cabinets are navy, not white. We have a lot of natural light and large windows. I don't exactly know what "style" my house is-mixed modern/contemporary with some MCM leanings perhaps. I think Kendrah put it perfectly about style.

Based on the photo that Patricia Colwell posted I would say yes BUT do think you have to be careful in your choices. Not ALL s.s. sinks are going to look good with black faucets.
