Paint/counter combo

Hi, looking for some advice on paint. I know this is one of the most difficult and nuanced topics. I have Sherwin Williams Alabaster in most of my house and I love how it looks with the wood floors. I currently have SW Agreeable Gray in my living room and kitchen. I don’t like that it’s so matchy matchy with the window treatments and I’d prefer a lighter color overall on the walls. My concerns are that Alabaster is too warm for the counters/fireplace and that it’s too much white/cream in general. I do not want to replace the couch, open to replacing rug. Counters/fireplace are Calacatta Leon (https://www.msisurfaces.com/quartz-countertops/calacatta-leon-quartz/). Window treatments are Hunter Douglas Provenance Roman in Santa Rosa Sunrise (https://crosstownshadeandglass.com/provenance-collections/santa-rosa-wood-sunrise/). Room is south facing but also receives north facing light from windows on opposite side. Thank you in advance!

I would replace the rug, with something with some color in it, and add some color in other areas, in your art work, and pillows, etc, and then just leave the walls the way they are. Right now, it looks a bit dreary and boring. Color would fix all of that. Beautiful German shepherd.

I would also find a new place for the tv, on a low cabinet, rather than hanging on the wall, and, I cant tell if there is an actual mantle on the fireplace, but, if there isnt, then I would put a mantle on there, with something beautiful hanging above it. Some sheer panels with a bit of color on the windows would add a lot too.

I have often found that Agreeable Gray feels a bit heavy and lightening the wall color may provide a better feel to the room.

You are mixing cooler whites in the counters and fireplace with the warmer Alabaster, so you need to be careful that you don't go too light that it looks like third white being introduced to your space.

If I were going to lighten I would test these colors to see how they look next to your finishes (flooring, counter, cabinets, trim . . .)

BTW - I didn't see where you told us the color of the cabinets.

Besides changing wall color cat_ky hit the nail on the head with suggesting more color. My mom always told us that mother nature was the best designer and to look to her for guidance on color.

You never see a beach without the blue water and sky or mountains without green trees and a blue sky. There is always some color shining through.

These examples below show how adding a bit of color brings a whole room to life.

Thank you all so much! I love BM Classic Gray but I have SW Alabaster in the connecting rooms… curious if you think the two would work together?

The cabinets are very similar to SW Alabaster. I don’t have the exact paint color (builder didn’t specify).

"My concerns are that Alabaster is too warm for the counters/fireplace and that it’s too much white/cream in general. "

"The cabinets are very similar to SW Alabaster."

These seem like somewhat contradictory statements, correct? If the alabaster-ish color of the cabinets works with the counters, could you color match your cabinets to the walls in these rooms too? Do you mind having that much alabaster in your home?

I have a cream/ivory that I'm obsessed with. I didn't want it in every room. But it looks so fantastic in the rest of my house that I am slowly repainting other rooms in that color.
