I must admit I rolled my eyes just a teense when she said she isn’t one for propping, as I saw the neat grid of decorating books on the coffee table (but then I saw she was using one as a coaster, so that’s okay) and the porcelain pea pod and peas on a mantle. Doesn’t that qualify as a prop? Unless of course it belonged to her mother.

Thanks for sharing that. I always learn from hearing her talk about decorating. I love that she looks at interior design books to get ideas for furniture layout more so than for decorating ideas.

@bpath - I took her distain for propping to mean she doesn't like things purchased just as props, but rather a collected look of your loved possessions used as props is what she is after.

bpath I took the prop comment in the same vein as Kendrah - stuff that has some meaning is more than a prop purchased just to fill a space. For instance if you have a collection of something and enjoy the hunt to add to it as opposed to cruising the aisles at Home Goods for something to put on your coffee table.

How about this strip of green here? Do you think that’s a fabric ribbon? My small sitting room has wainscoting and I’m thinking this might look cute there. My walls are a similar color (but paint, not wallpaper).

Sueb look at how perfectly that green matches the plant leaves. Where else is that green in the room - I bet it repeats in other places. Also note how similar in tone it is to the wall - nothing jarring, it's meant to be a layer not the focus.

Oh this pendant! A Google image search shows a treasure trove of Art Nouveau Alabaster pendants. DH is terrified I will be shopping for more lighting. I would have that in a second.

And the gardens, the Dutch doors and windows. I wouldn’t have all the busy wallpapers.
