How funny. He’s speaking in HHI when I’m there later this month. I have never heard of him, and now he comes to my attention twice in 24 hours. I’ll watch the above to decide if I want to see him in person. Thanks.

I ran into him at my favorite artist's booth at Scott's Antique Market in Atlanta last year. Let us know if you attend his speaking engagement @hhireno..

I love almost everything in his house, there is just too much of it. I need some empty spaces to give my brain a rest.
He's seems like a lovely person. And he's very good on camera which is unusual for Homeworthy designers.

I love James Farmer’s aesthetic! I’ve been following him for years. I first encountered his style at the Cashiers Historical Society show house. (Even though it is great for a show house, I believe I’d have to forego the taxidermy centerpiece for an actual dinner. 😬)

@hhireno, let us know if you go see him!

i really enjoyed seeing his lovely home. The only thing that bothered me were the size of the lampshades on his gorgeous living room cream ware lamps. Every time they came into view I had a gut reaction of the balance being off; for me the shades are too small. But even so, still pretty. I loved how he wove the same colors throughout the house and garden outdoor room. as well. For me, here and there a little too much pattern or too many things, but overall, beautiful, and it all works perfectly at his home. Thanks for posting this treat!

Thank for sharing. I used to follow him on IG, and always enjoyed seeing his gardens, but it became so repetitious. He has a nice mix of antiques. He was a guest speaker at Antiques at the Gardens in Birmingham a few years ago, but the timing was not good to travel.

@Indigo Rose The lamp shade scale bothered me too. Also the exact same shades are repeated on numerous lamps - four in the living room alone, dining room, small hallway.

The Chinese Chippendale on stairway railing, DR chairs, kitchen barstools, above the door and hidden storage cabinet (faux door) in DR - Not that it shouldn't be repeated, just so much for my eyes in the general area.

Thirdly, a lot of pair and quad repetition. He likes things orderly and cohesive.

The landscape painting and plaid fabric on the rolling chairs (nice idea) in the breakfast area were favorites. Also his dog's name, Lila - a nice Southern name. I went through school with a girl named Lila and always thought it was a pretty name.

A nice job by the architect making the exterior look older than it really is, and the landscape architect is equally talented.

I loved the opening overview of this episode. I usually cannot stomach the detail that Homeworthy owners go into. They are usually not very interesting speakers and I don't find their stories compelling. But this guy had great info to impart and the condensed opening seemed just enough for me. Thanks for sharing.

I also loved the first glimpse of his landscape. It seemed so untamed and natural.

For sure a lovely layerd more is more home. I cannot imagine DH enjoying an evening of cocktails in this home let alone living in it. It's fine the grand dames are swooning but what about the men????

Beautiful, beautiful house Rubyclaire….everything in it is perfection! His mother’s fixation on green and coral sounds like my mother’s home. He is well known in the south for doing exactly what he does in his own place— classical proportions and symmetry, traditional patterns, fresh colors and what might charitably be called ”extreme accessorizing.” I love it all, and agree he is a much more articulate homeworthy talent than they usually feature— although I stopped counting how many times he said ‘I love” (fill in the blank). Thank you for posting this one!
