We vote for the island facing the sink to allow for a longer island to provide more seating.

we have a 2nd vacation /get away property w similar situation. the issue i've noticed is people arrive and hunker around fireplace /screen for viewing and move a lot between comfy chairs..out through patio doors etc, the seating if In the kitchen , w a longer island facing window gives separation for those who want to talk w cook or get away from the viewing screen for a bit ..etc.... yes its still open but delineating the kitchen seating APART from other areas, even a bit , would be my preference.

Most important consideration is the amount of circulation space behind the island chairs.

If the island is facing the window, how much space is there between the edge of the island counter and the fridge / fridge wall?

If the island is facing the way it is in the fourth pick with back towards what I presume will be dining room table, how much space will there be between island counter edge and the edge of the dining room table.

How deep will your overhand be?

Yes, it all comes down to clearances in inches. Post a floor plan to get better advice.

Also, which is your existing kitchen/cabinets? The first three photos look different than the 4th. Are you doing a total renovation or just some items?

Here’s what I have. The rest of the plans are offsite unfortunately.

Also, those pictures are using Ai. But our cabinets will be Diamond Natural Rustic Hickory with matte black hardware.
Still need to decide if we’re going with a cream, off white granite or Black Sensa sparking granite that’s shown in the Ai pictures. Opinions of the color of countertop? I’m told black will make it pop, but I worry I’ll get tired of it in 5-10 years. But it is a beautiful black with whites and grays, with a deep sparkly natural looking slab which looks great with the wood cabinets.
Hardwood floors are staying.
