Vertical or horizontal tile in shower.

Remodeling bathroom. Is there a standard for vertical or horizontal tile in shower? Tiles are 12" x 24".

Two deciding factors:

- Your personal preference. I suspect most people would go with vertical, but maybe that's just MY preference showing.

- The size of your shower. If one or the other layout would allow for fewer cuts, it might be a time /money saver.

Size of the shower, size of the bathroom, type tile, type of floor tile all will play a huge part. There really is no standard answer. Context is key, so help us help you.

Go bigger, if it fits! I used 24x24 in a guest shower, 30x30 in my master shower and 12x24 in pool/guest shower, only because the tile I wanted to use only came in that size. All my tiles are stacked/straight set, as I don't like the stair-step effect of half offset or 1/3 offset.
