Do you want to create something that connects the two sides of the house or something that only goes as far as the end of the grass area? It sounds as if you don't envision a garden, but mostly just a patio? I would avoid curves because it looks like your house is one that has more clean, straight lines to it. I would play that up plus straight lines are easier for mowing I think. Do you want to have a place to sit and/or dine?

We have no idea of what you are thinking. What's your goal? To save on mowing? I'd just plant a bunch of ferns instead. It will look better and solve your mowing. Is it to have a bigger patio? What's the wood? A deck? If your goal is to reduce mud around the cement pavers, can you expand your deck?
