Jojo's scones were amazing! I am enjoying my candle very much. It's in my PR, and the narrow base on it is perfect for the small space on my pedestal sink. The room smells wonderful! And KSWL's beautiful keepsakes with her watercolor on it is lovely. It's on my dresser where I can see it every day.

Y'know how you go to parties and everyone says it was such a fabulous time, but you really thought it was just nice? Well this weekend really was fabulous. I'm grateful to each and every one.

I am an introvert, but when the gathering last year was in Austin I knew I had to go. After that great time, I was immediately game for Longwood. My heart is now so full after such an amazing weekend. Thank you to Mtn and Jojo for all of your hard work in creating this magnificent get-together. I will treasure my memories of this weekend and each and every one of you wonderful, kind, beautiful women whom I met or reconnected with. I can’t wait until next year! @Sueb20 I missed you and your fabulous sense of humor.

Dedtired, I was so happy to see you again too. We are still in Gettysburg and are going to the battlefield today. We took a meandering drive here through Amish country, and it was absolutely gorgeous. It was 27 degrees yesterday morning!

I‘m not a regular, but I’ll consider attending the next one if you’ll have me. I would’ve gone to this this one, but we were in Bermuda.

Sorry, Bunny, not everyone is comfortable doing that, and so names are intentionally left off. Also, if some do and some don't, then by process of elimination others might be ID'd, too.

@texanjana, I hear you on the weather, OMG. I am home after a week. Last Thursday and Friday I was all about linen and driving with the top down. Saturday was still nice, Sunday turned chiily and by Sunday night at my BFFs I needed to borrow socks and a sweater. Monday I got some sun and convertible weather as I continued on my wanderings, but by Tuesday am going to the office I was layered up and chilly. I washed out my thin turtleneck in the hotel sink!

Agree with you on the PA countryside, but then I am biased as it is my home state. It was really showing off for spring. @Funkyart, you asked about favorite moments. One of them was a twilight top-down ride throught the countryside to dinner. The golden sunlight on the side of an old stone barn, with Irish-green grass in the foreground..

But the best was raucous laughter, which accompanied pretty much all TM events!

Bunny, I was there and I am already using process of elimination to remember who’s who. But that’s my issue. All I know is, everyone is beautiful inside and out.

I am bummed the time for me to leave for the airport came up so quickly and I wound up leaving without any scones. I did at least have one with my meal. Sorry it was a quick good-bye. . It was great to see everyone I've met before and meeting new forum members.

I wondered if the TM group did trivia! That was the source of a ton of laughs last time!

I was bummed to miss brunch and scones and ”autographs”, but we had an early flight. I will try the scone recipe as a substitute.

Thinking of remembering peoples names, when I cleaned out my dad’s dresser, I came across a little notebook with the names of people he met playing golf or a business meeting. And a little not about their appearance (glasses, e.g.), family (daughter at ABC college) and such. and later I found my grandfather’s little notebook, labeled ”People We Meet” in his perfect architect’s lettering, with the same kind of thing. After Dad died, people commented to me how amazed they were at his memory for them, and how good it made them feel. I should do the same! (But I know I would lose the little notebook…)

I had my own TM today! Not as much fun but it was a beautiful day.

Wow! Sue. Those are beautiful photos. And it gives me an idea….maybe we should have a traveling tulip caravan. Start in Florida in late February and work our way to Boston in late April.

ETA: those tulips seem to be planted in rows. Were you at a tulip farm?

When we bought this house 20 years ago, the next-door neighbor was turning a good portion of the front yard into a seasonal perennials garden, starting with daffodils and a few scattered red tulips. I loved the look, the tulips were like easter eggs in a field of daffodils. And the whole neighborhood did, too. Sue, your first photo with the lone red tulip put me in mind of this. Sadly, a few years later they had to move. The next owners inexplicably dug up the garden and replaced with sod. But the daffodils and tulips would not be deterred. The bulbs that had missed the shovel continued to push through the sod for years. Today I noticed that tulips are pushing through for the latest owners, but further out from the original garden. Perhaps it is squirrels ”rearranging the furniture” as Michelle said!

(Do you ever think houses carry bad karma? It is such a lovely house, but bad luck seems to impact every family in it. I have a relative who is a shaman, I think her services are needed in that house. Or a priest.)

I love the tulip farms in the Skagit Valley WA. I brought tons of cut tulips home from there. They survived the overhead bin on the plane! They lasted forever, I supppose because they were freshly cut.

Mtn, the tulip farm has some just to look at, and a huge area for picking. Entry fee includes 10 tulips, and you can buy more for $1.50 each.

Side note, I am in love with this daffodils from my own yard.

Do you ever think houses carry bad karma?

We referred to a neighborhood house as the divorce house. From the 1970’s through the 1990’s, everyone who moved in there ended up divorcing and leaving. Now that I think about it, neither party ever stayed and kept the house. Hmmm, it was the house next to the cemetery, did that play a role? My sister still lives in the ’hood, I need to ask her what’s going on there nowadays.

Re people's names, a guy I know was part of the faculty at a school for awhile. Took him awhile to realize what the dean did at parties. He'd say hello to them, remember their names, ask about their kids. Then he'd point out someone else in the party and ask who they were, etc. Then he'd go over to them and greet them by name... And everyone thought he was so fabulous with names!

Every year for May Day, my neighbor's daughter brings me flowers. These are only a few. She's been doing it since she was old enough to walk over and give them to me. She's soon to be 17.

@bbstx we will be in Skagit for 2 weeks, middle to end of May but the tulips will be gone unfortunately. It's a gorgeous area.

No tulips in my garden but I'll post the current blooms in the other thread.

I was in Seattle on a business trip and dragged DH along. He arranged an extension that took us to the San Juan Islands. We knew nothing about the Skagit Valley. I’ll never forget coming over a small hill on I-5 and seeing acres and acres of tulips spread out in front of us. It took my breath away!

A local agritourism venue did Tuliptime this year. They planted fields of tulips. I don't quite understand this but today they let people come into the fields and dig buckets of the tulips for $15/bucket. DD2 and I went and it was some work. We brought a shovel, trowels, etc but even then those bulbs were 8-10 inches down and some work to get up.

We heard different stories about why they were doing this today. Everything to they are doing a different design next year, to not doing it next year, etc Time will tell.

RNmom, I think most gardens (as opposed to growers) dig the bulbs when the flowers are spent. IIRC, Jojo said that Longwood would dig up and compost theirs. Garvan Gardens digs theirs and then sells them to the public by the crate-load. I believe it has to do with the first year producing the showiest blooms.

RN that sounds like a lot of work! I have been to a few tulip farms. They just ask you to grab at the base, twist, and pull. The bulbs stay in the ground. No shovels required!

I have seen peach daffodils, and daffodils with a pink center, and pinkish daffodils, but nothing as saturated as pink tulips.
