Curtains look skimpy. I use couple curtain panels on each side. And I would get an area rug, wall art above the sideboard, center piece on table with runner.

I agree with Celery. First thing I thought was that curtains need more panels.Those bare poles sticking out are sad. Adding the art & rug gives the room some warmth & texture - makes it feel inviting.

Beefier curtains, an inexpensive rug you love (kids, food, oy!), and a more interesting chandelier. These will all go a long way.
