If you decide on green for the vaulted ceiling, consider a moodier green rather than the brighter emerald green from the kitchen. Also consider LED bulbs for the room that are whiter rather than yellower.

There are many moody greens with varying different undertones like these:

It’s a huge and long term decision, therefore many aspects should be considered with an open plan.

Emerald is very strong - ignore the ceiling’s style below. No use though opting for another green, as your idea is to complement I assume?

Can you envision in your gathering room and how will you address the ceiling’s transition into the kitchen and the wall color(s)?

If you want the stove to drive your color decisions, consider smaller injections.

I’d hold off on the lighting decision.

When the room comes together, including futniture and you‘d like advice, provide a picture. This style may not connect well with the stove…but it wil depend on your other choices.

The Sommelier chandelier is only a 27" round light. The photo you have shared appears to call for a much larger light than that. What height is the ceiling and dimensions of the space below? Where would you add skyligts?

I agree with Maureen above re: adding pops of emerald green to complement your range. I would not paint you sloped ceiling a matching green.

Beautiful chandelier but at 27", it will get lost. Maybe multiples of it?

@maureen THANK YOU — I feel that you immediately understood what I am going for, and provided very useful input. I hadn’t considered a green fireplace surround, and I love that idea. Good idea to hold off on the lighting until it starts to come together. I greatly appreciate your POV here

If you want to connect the two rooms with green, do it through green furnishings. The green ceiling is not going to look as connected as you think it will. If you are really craving a green ceiling, make the kitchen ceiling green.

@designinteriorsouth - great point about the size of the chandelier, I will revisit the lighting once the room starts to come together. The gathering room is 16 x 18, opening into the kitchen. Ceiling is two stories. I think the skylights would be vertical like Velux m08, on either side of the chandelier-? Your Opinions are welcome!!. @maureen

Here’s another view of the room. The kitchen will be at the end, and the green range and hood will be in the center of the wall.

The “space“ is stunning and you might need two lights (placed appropriately for your ceiling).

I have two skylights in my kitchen that is vaulted like your space. I love them. Before I remodeled It was a floor to ceiling wall from the apex of the vault but I removed the lower portion to open into the living room as yours does.The skylights were in place before the remodel so the location of my lights is a little wonky but it all works. You have a chance to make sure it's all balanced. My vaulted ceiling is a pale haint blue.

Give me more info. What color are your cabinets? Decorative range hood? Island? Counter tops? Is there a fireplace? What would you say your style is? Obviously you are a bit transitional since your range is more on the traditional side but the light you chose a bit contemporary. Have you chosen lights for over your island and how are these lights playing into those? Hardware colors? Can you draw a quick floroplan of the space with some measurements?

There is a possibility of doing two of this light if you love it however it is also only 26" tall which means in the large space it will look a bit like two flying saucers .......That said Currey & Co makes another one called the Vintner which is the same glass and same circumference but it is 39" tall which would give you more presence as well as a better view from the second floor if you were to do two of these.

This one would at least give you more height. That said Emerald green this is not. It more of a peridot and can emerald and peridot work together, they can and do wonderfully. But Is your range Emerald? A true Emerald? I would make sure all your greens can work cohesively .

okay I am back......and this rendering will obviously not be exact AND this is just based off your range and lighting selection.......and you mentioning cream sofas and me not knowing what has been chosen for the kitchen.........

again I know the vault is wrong and the overall archirecural details are not correct however you can get a feel for something doable with those lights and that range.......and all that to say keep your ceiling white! You can add all the accents you need using soft finishes.

You really need to consider how the skylights could kill the visual impact of these chandeliers, because unlike @Maureen 's image, I presume your lights will be mounted to the ceiling space in between the actual skylights. I don't think it is a winning look.

Could you hang two of them in the space beneath your catwalk?

If your skylights will be south or west facing, consider skylight UV protection (to protect furnishings from fading) and shades (for light/heat control).

IMO go look at commercial lighting in a scale much more suited to this huge space .Waht was the plan for this huge vault to begin with? Skylights bring a whole other issue to the table , how to clean them, how to control the heat and UV ,

A green ceiling of that size might look heavy and oppressive. Green might also lessen the impact of skylights. So, will suggest white for your ceiling.

I found a room that I think could work with the stove - classic/traditional, yet fresh. Be sure to consider the entire space, so the areas relate no matter the style.

One concern...is that a balcony? If so, you will see that ceiling color, as well as the green. Is that okay with you?

If you go with a color wash application, no crystal lighting...something heavier, yes, and two of them, stay with the greens on the paint strip, I think it would be stunning.

But, just a green ceiling with no other connection than the stove...no, go white.

Agree about skylights...they are a bugger.
