what is this kitchen appliance?

I've been looking at real estate listings for apartments, and came across this mystery appliance above the microwave.......At first I thought the white squares were reflections, but they're not.

Any ideas?

Have never seen this appliance. Doesn’t it seem too high for a coffee making set up? I’m gauging the height of the unit based on the countertop next to it. It looks like a major chest burn waiting to happen when I tilt my cup towards myself as I lift it out & down. I’ll pass on that technology.

Seems to me, they should have reversed the microwave with the coffee maker. The coffee maker seems too high to me and the microwave seems a bit low. I have NEVER seen this type coffee maker before. Thanks for the link to it sephia! OH and just noticed, it's a steal at only $4700! :O

I would think chest height is perfect. Easy to see controls, comfortable height for opening to load coffee and perform other servicing, etc. Far less of a hazard than pulling a hot beverage - or bowl of soup - from an OTR microwave that are fairly common.

My bigger issue would be investing so much money and committing committing dedicated cabinet space to a coffee maker that I may decide I don’t love, or that may face expensive repairs if not maintained perfectly.

Ah, I never thought of a reverse image search! Good idea. Yes, it's something that would work well for people of some height, and really badly for people of a different height. It does seem like an odd choice for a condo on the rental market, but maybe it came as part of the original appliance package.

They’re like $4000, I’d have to think it was chosen for a high end vibe, not just thrown into a package like a dishwasher.

When we bought our house, we couldn't work out why the bathroom mirror was mounted so low on the wall. It was just the right height for me (5'6") but 6' tall DH had to scrunch down to shave.

Then we met the previous owners :-D

" I’d have to think it was chosen for a high end vibe, not just thrown into a package like a dishwasher. "

Yes, that's what I meant - to give the building a higher-end vibe to it (like installing Miele appliances rather than Kitchenaid).

My DH loves his Miele coffee machine and we installed one in the previous house and new house. I don't drink coffee at all, so not something I would ever install on my own. Ours is plumbed into the water supply, so no need to refill any reservoirs.

We rented a vacation house with one once, and that is where my DH decided that he would want one if we ever remodeled/built a kitchen. That was the only thing he asked for and picked out for both kitchens.

In the photo, it looks like it is placed at the highest height most would want it. You don't want an appliance that pours very hot coffee, to be too low where kids could reach it.
