help picking bedroom lighting

I am preparing to paint and do some renovations to my bedroom. Will be painting the room a mid toned muted purple. Leaning toward something close to this:

My furniture is MCM / Danish teak.

The dimensions of the room are 12x15 and the bed is on one of the 12' walls. Dresser next to the doorway on the 15' wall. Other 15' wall has a tall dresser and a large window. 2 walk in closets on the other 12' wall.

Sorry - this is the only pic I had handy that shows my current nightstand and table lamps. Dogs took over the bed after I turned it down to go to bed so I snapped a picture.

The headboard will be raised up higher, I will be adding art.

My issue is that currently the only light in the room are the two bedside lamps. There are no ceiling lights.

I would like to have two lamps that serve to light the room when I need light, possibly add a floor lamp by the tall dresser to add light to that side of the room, but I also want some soft light so that if I want to read before bed or need to get up during the night I don't have to have blinding light in my face.

The birds can be rotated on the bases. I can place two on one side of the bed and one on the other side, or do the same on both sides.

But I think my old brushed stainless lamps are just not quite right for the look I am going for - a bit too plain next to all the glass and the birds, but I am not finding anything else that I love or that feel right next to the birds.

Would love some opinions and possible options. . .

Would also appreciate opinions on where to place the birds. Was toying with the idea of having them placed over the bed rather than on the sides and instead of art, but not sure that would look right.

Without ceiling lighting, I’d add large bedside lamps on a dimmer so you can adjust to suit your needs. The birds are more decorative vs functional, they have to be hard wired and note the wattage in the specs. I think adding a floor lamp might be a better option, but if you love, place above the dresser.

if you're going to pay to wire sconces, pay and get someone to do a ceiling light. or recessed lights.

they do make plug in sconces like these that don't have to be hardwired

This is also a nice color. notice the lighting in here along w/how everything is styled

I like how the baseboard is the same as the wall

any art over a dresser should be hung 4-6" above the top. and it should be 2/3rds the length of the dresser.

(or get multiple art pieces)

The birds, although charming will give you zero light. It appears they have to be hardwired ? If you are having an electrician out I would do a hanging pendent over each bedside table. Your tables are shallow and not large which equals not ideal for lamps.

Add a lamp or two to your long dresser .

Let the birds be a feature item. Use them instead of art above the bed.

I agree the birds are awesome but not great for lighting. The style of the bedroom confuses me the wall with the art and Asina type style is not great with the grannt bedding so maybe pick a style. I think those birds would be awesomw on that art wall and maybe done for remote use in the middle of the night. I need to see the bed for sure showing the headboard . Pics of the whole room are a must for sure . I like good lighting in a bedroom for cleaning but rarely turn on all the lights for regular nighttime . I too read in bed so like a good reading lamp and pendants are often a great choice to get the best lightand can be on dimmers too. If this is you home not a rental I would want a good ceiling fixture to light the whole space and some good lighting for reading.

Suggestions:

Use floor lamps to light room as desired. Place one lamp close to the entrance. You can probably plug into a controller that will let you turn off remotely. That way you use the lamp to light your way to bed and turn it off when you're snuggled in.

Bedside lamps should be individually controlled, so that points to plug-in units.

A little night light aimed low and controlled by a photocell will illuminate the late-night trips.

Raised headboard will keep hair oils off the wall

Primary view in a bedroom is from the bed. Place art so you can enjoy it from that viewpoint. All these compositions/stylings I see that are oriented toward the door strike me as misdirected.
