Dream backsplash, all Handpainted

It's almost hard to believe the before and after of the kitchen, but after many, many hours we finalized the DIY portion of the kitchen with the icing on the cake-our handpainted Delft-inspired backsplash. The entire kitchen was designed, sketched, painted and baked, and then hung and grouted by us and we couldn't be more proud. Now for a new dishwasher to complete the kitchen and we will as happy as can be.

Light and bright, personal and creative.

If you DO live far from water, this could be a very welcome vision. I might name the sub-areas of my kitchen according to the view— birdville, under the waves, the harbor. And then give the ships Dutch names :)
