Maple does not take any stain well. Typically clear is all that is applied Maple. Stain takes very uneven and blotchy.

It would be blotchy as heck. Maple flooring should only be chosen as a prefinished solution in the medium to darker colors. Site finished should just be a clear coat.

Also, Minwax? You are dealing with a total amateur. Minwax is a horrible quality stain.

Because maple is a dense, closed-grain wood, standard stains can result in an uneven, blotchy appearance. The best way to achieve an even finish on maple floors is to use dye stains, gel stains, or hybrid water-oil stains.

Doing the square footage as shown using the multi-steps above is incredible time consuming and labor intensive. Probably diy. I wouldn't choose any Minwax products. Ciranova for finishes and stains.

Minwax says you need an entirely different wood floor guy. I bet he uses oil based polyurethane too. Find a Professional

If you're refinishing maple, I'd skip Minwax altogether. As sais above maple is difficult to stain evenly, and there are better professional-grade products available. Have your finisher make samples using Duraseal or Bona stains on the actual floor before making a decision.
