Please HELP choose tile for lanai!

last month

We are replacing the existing tile of our large screened in porch (lanai). We live in a condo in Florida and the lanai flows from our dining room which has medium brown hardwood floors. (See photo) The patio off the lanai has pavers in a sierra brown color (see photo). I love the look of large format tile for the lanai, especially since the pavers have a lot going on. I’m trying to keep the flow from the hardwood floors to the lanai to the patio pavers. Open to suggestions for tile choices. I am stuck on what color. Thank you!

The tile you have harmonizes perfectly with your other flooring. You can save a lot of hassle and money and put your budget into different color choices of wall paint and some furnishings and rugs. Try to avoid more gray anything since a shift to a warmer brown palette will better work with your existing flooring.

--Repaint walls warm light cream taking it from the lightest background cream from current tiles. Then you'll be happier with existing tiles.

--Not clear why you have wood slats/palette in dining area. Remove bench, slats, and replace dining table with a round one in cream (check FB Marketplace, Craigslist, thrift shops) for a round table and paint it cream. Find colorful dining armchairs chairs and paint blue or cream or cream with blue cushions.. A round table will make that space airier and give you a place to eat and play games.

--Change out the fan for a white one.

--Center your mirror on the dining area wall and rehome the art work. Or, get a much larger art work for the space in this palette of cream, tans, blues.

--Have you thought about floating your very nice lanai sofa and chairs to the middle? If that works, then get a much larger patterned indoor/outdoor rug in this palette:

Housegal200… thank you for your comments! I love the idea of floating our couch and chairs. Privacy from our neighbors is why they are set back, but I think I will center them more. I also love the idea of a round table, especially since we have a rectangular table in our dining room just off the lanai. Regarding paint color, since we are in a condo, we are not allowed to change the existing color which is a very light blue. The wood slats are leftover from the previous owner who tried unsuccessfully to grow an herb garden there. We will be replacing it with the new tile. The existing tile is not installed properly, so we are redoing it. I really appreciate your decorating tips!

A terrazzo-look porcelain might look nice.

I liked this one when researching materials for my build back in 2021. You would need to check that it is rated for outdoors. They had lots of colors.
