Catching up over the past few days

I finally got a little rain over the weekend. Was glad to see it as the new blooms were opening smaller than normal.

What’s Up Down South opens with a bang


Moonlight Mischief also opened with several blooms


Mister Mayor showing off some color


Boss Lady in the sun. It is on the garden edge and unfortunately I haven’t weeded that part!


Orene’s Petals-FFE-and I think I am going to like this one


Sweetest Name I Know has begun to bloom-very sunfast color


FFO on Southern Cotton-dug in it last season so unsure how it will look this year


Queen Charlotte—FFE


Pirate Queen-first flowers open and one is a little scarred but I like this bloom


Which Way Jim has probably had its best season


Treasure of the Southwest-I always think this should be an orange based on the name!

    I like Queen Charlotte. Was surprised when I looked it up on the database. An older Santa Lucia that no one has posted a picture of, yet it looks like it would be very popular based on what yours looks like. I hope you post more of it........The color on What's Up Down South is a stand out.......My Sweetest Name I know just opened its first blooms a couple of days ago too. It is one of my favorite daylilies, especially for its heat resistance...........Maryl

    Maryl, Queen Charlotte is new. After yellows, I think I like pinks best! At least for now!! Sweetest Name I Know is rather sunfast isn’t it? It also has a very heavy substance.

    Blushing Escapade looks to have low bud count this year. Orene's Petals looks good, but I don't trust Bells here. At least, it makes it easier to resist spending. Moonlight Mischief, I see, is a Joiner dormant. Has Catherine Folker not grown well for you? Which Way Jim has surprised me., looking at your pics. (Shooters usually don't do well here.) I don't have Which Way Jim.

    Mantis, Catherine Folker has increased and was on track for possibly a good year. It is in a bed that was close to fallen ice storm limbs. Although the limbs did not fall directly on the beds, the tree people dragged them through the beds when they did clean up. I have several plants that took a direct hit from that. Hopefully, they will recoup next season. I am glad Which Way Jim lived for you!! It has really bloomed a long time this season. And yes, Blushing Escapade does look subpar in the bud count. It does rebloom 2 or 3 times for me.

    Wonderful post. They all look good. WHAT'S UP DOWN SOUTH, WHICH WAY JIM and MISTER MAYOR jump out at me. ISABELLE ROSE clump shot is also gorgeous. I am picking out all the UFOs. That is not usually my preference.

    I just looked up QUEEN CHARLOTTE as I thought that it might have some sort of connection to the Bud Bennett lines, since it had his "look." SOUTH SEA ENCHANTMENT is one of QC's parents and Mr. Bennett has many intros with SSE as a parent.

    They are all gorgeous! My top favorites are Mister Mayor, Isabelle Rose, and Moonlight Mischief. It's good to see Blushing Escapade, and I'm glad you know its location!

    David, how funny on your UF choices! I am still first a full rounded form fan but obviously some of these other forms have found their way into my garden! And thanks for the info on Queen Charlotte. I don’t do a lot of progeny hunts but it is interesting. Stamile pinks were my first favorite pinks and I still have them in my garden.
