Lots of rain yesterday and more expected today along with humidity. I've had a couple of daylilies blooming. Two were planted last fall, two came in this spring and one I have for about 2 years now

BUSY BEING FABULOUS - FFO yesterday.Second full year here and blooming at the sme time last year. Tall and multple scapes up.

ISABELLE ROSE - FFO today. Planted last fall. Only see one scape( could be mistken) so far. Good opening and a nice large bloom and tall. I got this from Ellen Laprise.

BOUNDLESS ENERGY- FFO was a couple of days ago and has been continuing to bloom. Planted last fall and is a gift from Ellen. I'm seeing a tiny bit of green throat on it. I had wondered if it was BE but I'm sure Ellen knows her plants. Large bloom and really stands out in the garden. It has so far only two scapes.

SPUTNIK - FFOs - planted this spring from Judy Davisson as a gift plant. It sent up 3 scapes but I'll cut the rest off and put energy back into plant. It opens and then starts to show the pleating. Very unusual but I like it alot. 1st pic is how it opens and 2nd pic is a midday pic showing the pleating.

Ghost Gift - planted this spring. I got it as a gift plant from a seller. This one sent up 3 very short scapes so will cut them off today. I'm not sure if I'll keep it. It has had muddy color tones and small bloom size which is not something I like. I'll see what it does next year.

So many scapes are up so each day is a treat to see what is blooming. So far the deer have not gotten in over the fencing. We have had fawns in the area. This one I found laying between my veggie garden box and garden bench. I did go out and tell it vacate and it did.

Julia, nice to see your blooms beginning. I think you will enjoy Isabelle Rose and that is a nice first bloom. Sputnik looks promising also. And lots of buds from just being planted in the spring!

When my daughter lived in Nashville she came upon a fawn lying beside the sidewalk during her morning run. A wildlife management person was putting up a sign telling people not to pet it or try to rescue it-that its mama had told it to stay there while she foraged. He told my daughter they had put up a trail camera to be sure the mama came back and later on the neighborhood facebook page someone posted the video of mama returning for it. I am sure your baby’s mama wasn’t too far away but that is way too close to your gardens!!

Julia - Busy Being Fabulous does look fabulous in your garden! I'm gad yours has the tall scapes. Mine was always short in Nashville - one of the main reasons I thought it wouldn't make it in Indy. Ghost Gifts was one I grew very successfully in Nashville. While the petal color can look muddy on first blooms when nights are cool, once it heats up no muddiness is apparent. The fawn is cute, but dangerously close to your plants! How tall is that fence?

Kate and Debra: Thanks for the comments. We have 2 sets of fawns in the area this year. At least it isn't more or at least so far.

Debra: The fencing is 4 1/2 feet plus a few more inches since I wanted enough space at the bottom to be able to weedwack under it. . I'm working on a solution to avoid weedwacking in front and under it but have to wait till the dreaded heat/humidty moves out. I hope Ghost Gift looks better next year. And Busy Being Fabulous did really well last year so

Thunderstorm is hitting here now so got to get off the computer.

Busy Being Fabulous does catch my attention. Looks great for you........I too was wondering how high your fence was. I would have thought 8 feet would be the norm. But if it's working then 4 feet is good enough............Maryl

Wondeful blooms today. Great to hear the fence is doing its job. I hope Sputnik does well for you……what s nice bonus.

I hope a fence in the 4-foot range will protect your plants. I have friends who say even 6-foot fences won't keep really hungry deer out.

I like Sputnik a lot. Deer got some scapes before I got the fence up, but it quickly sent new scapes from the same fans. Four feet is shorter than I thought your fence would be, but it's all a matter of getting them out of the habit. Yes, I too am surprised that Busy Being F is so tall for you.

Julia, Oh my the fawn is precious but too close since Mama is sure to be near. Isabell Rose is always such a lovely bloom. Busy Being Fabulous looks really good.

Very pretty flowers!! I think Sputnik is my favorite.

Having a fawn that close to my garden would surely bother me.
