I went with the internal ice maker only for my 16-yr old SZ built-in 48” with freezer drawers on the bottom. No issues. I put an accessible whole kitchen water filter system in the basement below the kitchen (to service the SZ and two sinks) so I could bypass SZ‘s in-line filter which needs to be changed once a year or so.

I did not get a combo ice/water dispenser as I always bad experiences with other brands. And my family had problems with theirs. And my friends had problems with theirs. Etc.

Thank you for your input Design Fan! It was concerning to hear dispenser failures but a lot still opted for it. This SZ will replace my broken KirchenAid. Now, since i already have the space ready to install in the SZ, do I need to replace the e exis exist existing water valve and water hose or it cones with the pyrchase?

I got the internal dispenser. Only had the fridge for a year but it's fine so far. I probably would not have gotten it but our tap water doesn't taste good and the SZ water is great.

    Thank you, Katz

My sink is not too far from the ref and i have a water dispenser attached to a reverse osmosis. we have been using it since the KA water tasted yucky. Would love to hear more experiences from owners/users.

I do kind of like to get some minerals in my water. I think they are pretty much stripped out by RO. However if you're happy with the RO dispenser then why bother with a fridge dispenser - just something else to break down.

Neither. Mine aren't hooked up. More stuff to break, and I'm concerned about bacteria in the lines if we don't go through enough (which I doubt we would).

The water dispenser is a nice option if you like being able to have cold water without having to add ice.

Due to many issues stated above and experience with other households dispenser issues we have neither ice or water dispenser. I do have a great set of ice trays that I empty into the ice receptacle in the freezer. Fortunate to have very safe water source.

I find guests definitely like it and I’m happy to offer that rather than my unpleasant tap water. I’ve never had a problem with a water dispenser in any fridge I’ve had. Plenty of trouble with the in door ice dispensers however.
