For several years I have been attracting high numbers of hummingbirds. I have been dedicating my landscape to mainly native plants. Have several good colonies of Royal catchfly, beebalms, salvias,

etc. During peak hummers, at any given time it was common to see 8-10 hummers on the flowers. This year, so far is different. Only a few hummers showed up and they dont appear to be staying even though there are abundant flowers and feeders. My question concerns the use of deer repellent spray. I used it full time, as directed, for the first time this spring. Using a product called Liquid Fence. Directions say do not use when pollinators are present. I started spraying my plants when the deer started nibbling which was shortly after they emerged. For the most part it worked in repelling the deer. Quit spraying the plants several weeks before blooms appeared. My question is, could the plants be absorbing this product into the nectar and be repelling the hummers ?
