So glad to see you comment gardengal, I was hopping you would see my post. I went outside and moved them to an area that has hopefully better soil and only gets filtered sun. My hydrangeas endless summer original and Bid daddy seem to be doing well there so maybe that is a good sign. I watered them deeply and will mulch them. Thank you very much!

Thank you floral uk it is centainly not a plant that is comoon here. I do have wood areas with lots of mature trees that may offer soil with more organic material. I will give a shadier area a try. Laura from Garden answer in youtube grows lots of Brunnera in her desert garden (over 100 degrees) in the summer so I need to give it a try.

Yes to more water and better soil. Morning sun is typically fine for brunnera. You said morning sun and afternoon shade, but what about the evening? Western evening sun is hot and unrelenting, even here where I am, so if it's getting evening sun it needs to be moved. Also, avoid rooty soil, such as under a maple tree.

Thank you porkchop. I checked last night and it does get 1 hour of evening sun. I will keep an eye and if they start to look bad move them again. They do seem to have miraculously recovered some overnight so I am taking it like a good sign. Yesterday they were limp rags. I will mulch the area to help with moisture.

^^They do look better today. Sometimes they just need an adjustment period. Keep an eye on them, and don't expect too much in the first year, plants need to settle in before they show you what they can do. I wouldn't move them again unless there's obvious signs of leaf burning/serious decline. 1 hour of evening sun isn't excessive.
