Was this room planned to be a dining room originally?

Room is approx 15x30. Room has always been this, the dining room was off this room originally but was built into a kitchen Reno.

I see no reason not to have a sofa and then have the two chairs either flanking each side or on one side.

I’d like the tv to go or on a different wall. Nothing in this room has to stay!!

It’s the best wall for tv from what you shared but you need a longer console

Gathering space for how many? A formal space for receiving guests or a place to do say cards/games etc where the TV isn't?

What color are you considering for the ”color drench”? The bookcase color? Seems pretty dark if so. It would be helpful to share a floorplan with measurements & let us know WHAT you would like in the room ( furniture ) & intended purpose. Is the carpet staying?

A room that long would benefit from being separated into different areas. Besides "sitting" what other activities is the room used for? Game night? Music room? Office? You have already stated that you don't watch TV here, so eliminating the TV would be step one. This is where you begin, not with colors, patterns, or types of furniture. The use of the room drives everything else. We'd also need a scale drawing of the space, with all windows, doors, and walls labeled with dimensions (in feet/inches).

I feel free to say: There's no need to solve this dilemma with paint drenching. It's a bad idea.

Right now, you've left a big empty space in the middle of the long space. Use the middle for cozy seating in the round. Since furniture doesn't have to stay, replace with fixed or swivel armchairs, floated in the middle with round coffee table (Honestly, the rounded dining chairs you have around the table could work with this layout.--try it now. Or add two ivory white armchairs to complement your two ivory and white armchairs and float them around a round coffee table in the middle space.) Add a console table for a welcoming bar. If you get swivel armchairs, then you can have the TV.

Is the room definitely 30’ length? It just doesn’t look that long to me but hard to tell just from pictures.

Here’s some ideas if you kept some of the furniture and added some additional pieces. The tv could be on the wall to the left as you enter the room. Plus I was running with the same blue color, but you may want to change that up too.

Personally I’m be more inclined not to color drench just because I think it’s a hassle to prime and paint all of that if you change your mind in the future. Here’s a look at the room with all the walls and ceiling painted, just walls and then as it is currently.

Here’s an idea if you want to change it all up.

This is a layout that I think would fit your room. Remember to keep 3 feet of walking space available between the coffee table and the arm chairs because that's how people will comfortably walk from the main entrance to the kitchen. The gray shapes on the walls are places you can put paintings/pictures. I also see that you have a dog bed in your photos; I would move the dog bed to the room where you watch TV most, or to your bedroom. As for your color drenching idea, it would look good, just a few things to keep in mind:

• Keep the wainscoting white because that color combination matches the decor in your room and it will keep the space from becoming one big blue blob
• It won't feel like the room gets as much sunlight anymore since the color will absorb more light
• I would keep at least four light sources in the room to provide adequate lighting to the dark colored space. Especially because you have no ceiling lights
• I would get a very dark brown area rug to complement the dark brown accents that are already there and help anchor the furniture. It would also go well with the blue paint you’d use
