It's not a sofa and it's not a wall either but chispa's point is valid. The pictures are too close. We need a better sense of your space.

I do not think thtat sofa is a candidate for a redo it does not look comfy and obviously does not work in the room. We need to see the whole room , there is no way to answer otherwise..Post the new pic here in a comment and also this is where you answer all our questions.

Respectfully, if I wanted to take the easy way and buy a sofa to fit this weird space, I wouldn’t need to ask for creative solutions in a design forum. I would just go do that. I also didn’t ask if anyone thought it looked comfortable. It will be when it’s done in down. Guests are only received in this room. They will be comfortable in the bar, media room, den, or the living space in the pool house that overlooks the rear property for entertaining. Yes, it’s a design challenge. But I understood that’s what this forum was for.

First: you can't center the sofa in that location because of the support column. You could move it to the right and center it to the space next to the column and put a sofa table behind it, which would also service the hallway.

Second: you have decided to reupholster the love seat.

The small strip area between the two entries is a not suitable location. It could work if you move the love seat much further in and added a console behind (leaving room to walk between pillar/console), but with its height it might not look great.

If wanting placement help, provide a picture of the entire room and even better, a diagram with measurements and structural components.

What other colors are you using in the room? Would a green or navy velvet work? Would it be possible to put a pretty decorative floor screen behind the sofa to anchor it and mitigate the fact that it's off center?

I would not decorate the narrow wall section but think about ways to ground the sofa by having something behind it - e.g. a decorative screen like @katinparadise suggested, sofa table with lamp etc

See. I’m not going to be able to move it at all. Even the cocktail table will have to be squared off to the right side facing the sofa. My only options are fabric choices and working with the wall behind it. Money isn’t a concern. I have no budget I’m worried about. My dilemma is design meeting the architecture, while using that wall space to present a future antiquity. I was hoping for something of a strong architectural nature. Wall panel, swords, cross….I can hire someone to add molding or custom millwork. Worst case scenario I’ll match the fabric with the new wall color when I decide that….And visibly cameo it out , so to speak. But I’d prefer to play it up as an unusual design element.

I haven’t painted the room or ceilings yet. So I don’t know what colors. Natural to traditional I know. My furnishings are a lot of antiques. So much so, I’m needing to add more modern touches to not look like a museum. One reason why the shape is important. No one is even going to sit on it but people I don’t like and want to leave my house to be honest. I’ll lay on it from time to time to read a book and enjoy the feather down going in it.

I’ll clarify…My guests gets received and moved to the bar/parlor or the pool house where we entertain.

I'm wondering if, on the right side of that wall perhaps a tall narrow plant would take up the negative space and fill in so the sofa doesn't appear off center?

The section of wall behind the sofa is so narrow I'm not sure that any sort of artwork that you place there would look quite right. So, will suggest you leave it as is and concentrate on artwork elsewhere in the room.

I must be in the minority, but I like your sofa and its lines. It looks elegant and a bit dramatic. This site tends to be more west coast modern from what I can tell so I wouldn't dare ask for help if I had a more traditional, European, or old New England, vintage, etc. style. Best of luck!

I like the sofa and current color and fabric. Looks like a gold velvet to me- which suits the style.

This is just a quick rendering, and I included @bearbev’s plant idea.

Other ideas might be a tall piece of furniture or a folding screen, if it would work with your setup.

Btw, the sky is the limit as far as the upholstery colors. I like the idea of a performance velvet in a solid color, for your sofa; but you are, of course, not limited to that.

Here, I used a moss green velvet- and I brought in a screen to show that general idea.

The screen could be a bit taller, and maybe a bit wider- but you get the idea. You would not have to use an art screen- it could be any type of screen, really. But if you did want to bring in some art there, a screen would be a good way to do it.
