Rebloom Starting on a Few Seedlings

As of today my peak is over, but I'm excited to see so many rebloom scapes in borders and rows. Some seedlings have already started reblooming.

Pink Aloha X Bubblegum Queen has two instant rebloom scapes.

Roman Cohort X The Ultimate Sacrifice had one bloom yesterday on an original scape and two rebloom flowers.

Born to Reign X (Mayans' Dawn X The Ultimate Sacrifice) #2 is an ML bloomer that just started blooming earlier this week. It has 20 buds this time and is about 30 inches tall. I like the look of the flower, but the petals are not sunfast by 3 p.m. at 89 degrees and high humidity.

Freedom of Expression X Violet Sabrewing #2 - This is the latest blooming of the Freedom kids and the best budded with at least 21 buds. In Nashville, it bloomed EM, but this year it is blooming ML. The color was really washed out from the heat at first, and the first couple of flowers looked white. It's planted in sandy soil and gets about 12 hours of sun a day.

Here's what it looked like in Nashville when it got far less sun:

Crazy Kate - I finally got a photo of this one where the color is just about right. It's blooming in front of Reckless Girls, which still has short scapes. If I didn't like the bloom so much, RG would be long gone.

Tahlequah Flame, a late bloomer, and Cherry Pie a la Mode - TF has always been much shorter than registered for me. I was hoping it might grow taller here, but no.

Cherry Pie a la Mode - Last bloom on this one. I've really enjoyed its first season of bloom. Great job on that one, Nancy!

Electric Ladyland - Better photo than the first one I posted.

Fangs to You showing better color than the photo I posted earlier this month.

Fancy Lace is having a good season with good height and well-budded scapes.

Grandma's Smile X Dearest Valentine - It's doing well here with a few scapes with bud counts in the 20s. It did much better in Nashville when it bud built into the 30s and 40s.

Make It Snappy dwarfed by Miss Goldie Gold Digger. Poor Make It Snappy got covered up by Goldie's huge foliage, so it didn't do as well as it could. However, the blessing is that is being shaded makes it easier to set pods.

Crazy Kate and Roman Cohort X The Ultimate Sacrifice are my favorites of these. Too bad Born to Reign X (Mayans' Dawn X The Ultimate Sacrifice) #2 isn't sunfast; I really like the color.

Beautiful grouping. I like Crazy Kate. I think it should come and live at my place and I can rename it Crazy Julia. Freedom of Expression X Violet Sabrewing #2 sure does look different but I like both versions. It has been peak bloom here and I see rebloom scapes on a few and I still have a couple of daylilies that still have not bloomed. Foliage here still looks terrible even with all the rain we've been getting. But the blooms this year appear to be much larger.

Julia - Crazy Kate is similar in color to Sweet Child of Mine, which I have grown for many years. I would love Crazy Kate to look more like Judy Davisson's photos of it with darker raspberry blooms. Maybe it will look like that next year. A lot of my foliage is looking bad too.

Wonderful to see your babies are reblooming in Indy! Born X Mayans X Ultimate 2 is my favorite, such gorgeous color.

Sherry - I am glad so many of the seedlings have rebloom scapes - a few more than rebloomed last year. All the rain we've gotten really promotes the rebloom on those that are inclined to do so.

Grandma’s Smile is so pretty in that clump. The Born to Reign seedling looks good and I don’t know many that do hold the color in this heat! Can’t hold that against it, The Roman Cohort seedling has such pretty color. The combo photo of Crazy Kate and Reckless Girls is striking. This is my third year of Crazy Kate so I think this is the color I will have-not much different than yours.

Is Cherry Pie an improvement on Ruby Lipstick? I have same attitude towards Reckless Girls. I like Fancy Lace, but wary of evergreen. Your pic of Crazy Kate seems to be raspberry to me. Looks like that here. Pink Aloha seedling is nice.

That Roman Cohort seedling is a very pretty one, Debra. I like the Crazy Kate photo and I also like Miss Goldie Gold Digger. With that color, Tahlequah Flame catches my eye. And of course, Grandma's Smile X Dearest Valentine is a winner. I am glad it is doing well there.

Kate - The color on your Crazy Kate beyond the eye looks much darker than mine, while the eyezone looks much the same. Yours looks more like Davisson's photo.

Mantis - The petal color on my Crazy Kate is more pink than raspberry. I would say the colors on Cherry Pie are a slight improvement over Ruby Lipstick - lighter petal color and brighter red eye. I haven't grown it long enough to comment on plant habit. Fancy Lace has done well here after two pretty brutal winters.

Kay and Kate - The Roman Cohort seedling has heavy substance and is my most sunfast red seedling.

Kay - I brought Tahlequah Flame because of its color and because its a late bloomer.
