Your room seems a bit tight for what you want to fit in there.

I would not get a whole bed with foot board and side rails that take up even more room and will make the space look and feel even tighter.

Just get a headboard.

I have this king headboard from Jonathan Adler and I'm still very happy with it after 11 years. Comes in many colors. I have the teal velvet.

Although you don’t often look out the window, I’d avoid a large, heavy, dark headboard, as it will block light/darken the room and make it feel smaller. The low ceiling+fan isn’t helping. Maybe reassess how to make the room feel larger and lighter (lamps and bedding also make a difference).

How high are the ceilings?

A taller curved headboard might feel too cramped, compared to a lower straight one.

I just don't love the blocked windows.

As far as color, what is drawing you to the muddy brown samples?

I felt like the straight bed was very blockish and boxy. i felt like because a king is big anyway that it needed height to balance the width? what do you think.

I like the straight top one it can lean to all styles down the road . Always keep it simple is my advice

I had a bed like the one you currently have - I replaced it with an upholstered wingback headboard (similar to the Hooker bed). I decided against having side rails + a footboard again (my bedroom is larger than yours appears to be based upon the photo - around 16' x 18'). The room feels very spacious without the posts/foot board/side rails.

I would avoid a tall curved headboard - I think it looks too busy in front of the windows.

There are endless color choices and low designs but whatever you choose add bedding that enhances its look.

If it were me, I’d get a low key velvet headboard the same color as the walls -i’d be looking for low contrast options to lighten the visual weight of the bed

Skip the side rails and foot board. You don't have the space. That headboard would be fine.

My master is quite large and I just have a headboard. The surround sometimes makes it harder to make up a bed and if you are older, it can make it harder to get in the bed as you get even older.

Don't cover the windows with a headboard. Whether you look out the windows or not isn't the issue. You are blocking wonderful natural light. Add some draperies, just to frame them.

Or have a platform bed with no headboard.

Are you just getting a new bed or do you plan to get nightstands, lamps, bedding, etc.? Those tall curved headboards always feel very overwrought to me and in a room with 8 foot ceilings, they also feel out of proportion. They don't convey masculine at all. This one from West Elm has some curves and comes in a variety of fabric choices. Pair it with a wood frame.

If you take pictures of all sides of the room and post those in the comments, along with a drawn out floor plan showing measurements, including window and door openings, you'll get lots of valuable help.

If replacing everything and wanting a masculine, moody feel, here’s one look.

Suggest going on line for inspiration and it will make your decisions much easier. The paint color will also have a big effect.

No to the high curved headboards. Is your whole house very traditional? Are you keeping the nightstands and lamp? I much prefer Simply Natural’s photo of the low curve. Also, the very dark sienna color shown doesn’t seem to work for me in this room?

I would think twice about bed against the window blocking natural light. I prefer curves but in a low design and no foot board. A simple straight head board could have easily removed and washable slipcovers. what about something with open slats or spindles?

How odd to recommend a hooker bed! :) But the bed that goes straight across is the best. It matches the horizontal lines of the windows and feels more in place.

I understand wanting to add more curved lines to a room that may feel too boxy, but the headboard isn't the right place to do it. Instead it seems like a random contrast too out of step with the window and shutters.

Hello, before buying a king-size bed, you should check the mattress size chart first. You need to make sure your room is big enough to fit a king-size bed; perhaps you should buy a queen-size bed instead.

The bed i currently have is king

40 inches on both sides of bed. This current king bed is too high. the leather bed seems more timeless but the blue gray seems softer but also more limited in future? im open for suggestions. Im replacing everything.

1. The headboard‘s height/shape should cater to the very small room/low ceiling/low window. Therefore aim for minimal designed headboard and nightstands so the room won’t feel cramped.

2. You also have to decide on the mood of the room you want, as you’ve shown very different headboards.

Instead of looking at headboards, if you haven’t already, look at inspiration bedrooms to help you narrow down a look/what was used. I searched small organic bedroom king size bed under low window.
