Most of the art and some of the bits and pieces when my parents moved in was Japanese (I now have a number of 18th -20th century japanese woodblocks and such) because my mom really did not like reproductions of identifiable artworks.

You can also see that I have no problems with multiples or pattern on pattern :)

Well I have seen some of my stuff go from new to old, to semi-antique, and some of my old stuff go to antique. This happens if you live long enough I guess. My parents new persian rugs are my semi antique rugs, and my great aunt's old ones are now genuine antiques. All of them are semi threadbare.

Until I read this post, I didn’t even realize that I am the proud owner of a ginger jar! I inherited this Chinese piece from my parents, and it’s been sitting on my buffet ever since. It was likely purchased at Gump’s in San Francisco around 50 or 60 years ago. I’ve always loved it, and now that I know a bit more about it, I appreciate it even more.
