Carpet was installed today!!! And I just moved a few items in. To say I love the blue is an understatement! I have those picture frames to hang but have to get hooks for the to hang on tomorrow :)

Window treatment. Go to ceiling with curtain panels( draws the eye up and makes the room and window look taller). Tie the panels back on the left side. Sort of like parting your hair on the side and having hair sweeping across your forehead. I would get at least two panels for fullness. Tie it back with a pretty chord.

Don't see the back hook things but wondering why the photo is hung upside down.

The insert that came inside the frame is what is upside down, not the frame.

Oh. Thought you might be mad at your family for some reason, so you hung them upside down. LOL!

Paint the staircase railings. Half shutters on the window. Update the ceiling fixture that is period to the home. expose the wood flooring in the foyer. The stage must be set before furniture, rugs are placed. A foyer is the heart of the home, it is a sneak peek of what lies ahead in the rest of the homes décor.

If you need repairs to the wood floors, you could use the flooring inside of closets. No one sees them anyway and they are the same age and wood type most likely. It would be easier to replace the inside closet flooring and stain to match rather than try to piecemeal with who knows what.

Stained glass overlay can do a wonderful job on those windows! You can design the pattern and colors too.

You have such a lovely home! I'm always curious how people decide to switch to different trim colors. How / why did you decide on white in your bedroom when it's dark everywhere else? And does it transition smoothly? I'm so curious to know how you pulled it off because I love both looks, but never am sure where one should end and the other should begin. Thanks!

@miranda, previously our bedroom had wood paneling that was out over the plaster and cheap, not so cute, white trim. All of the bedrooms and bathroom upstairs have white trim. In the foyer area when you go upstairs, the dark trim is still there but Inside the bedrooms is white. I love the freshness that white trim has so we just kept with the white trim in the bedrooms theme.

Meghan, nice that you have posted updates, most people don't and we are left wondering. Glad you have insulation now, big job but so worth it and will help with your heating bills. You created a nice master bedroom sanctuary. Would like to see a pic of your boxer! :) Your $20 light fixture in the foyer looks great, and the oiled dresser perfect under the mirror, but I liked the way you had it styled before with the K. Like how you dress up the frames along the stairs for the holidays! Beautiful floors, glad you pulled up the rug. I like that you kept the original wallpaper. Your dining room is welcoming. The only thing I would suggest for your living room, is larger and more plump throw cushions. The kind you can 'sink' into.

After seeing the photo again, I think I would lower the mirror about 12". It will connect to the bed grouping nicer.

perhaps you could also find another light fixture on eBay to replace the light in the living room?

Sorry, I see that the the 'fleur de lis" plaque could be lowered about 12" also... and the 3 piece grouping. Just a bit too high. A very common thing :)

I haven't read through the whole post, but if you don't mind I would like to make a couple of suggestions. First off, the bedroom has turned out lovely. Good job. A couple of things I would pursue, other than what LB suggested, is a linen headboard and taller lamps. There may be a reason you don't want to consider that (like I said, I haven't read the whole post), but I think those would be nice finishing touches. :)

I hung the mirror a bit higher because we have an old door in the attic that we are going to use for the headboard :) I also realized I hung my pictures too high... They are eye level to me (I'm 5'9"). But I know I need to move them :( I am going to post an update of our family room... But I'm definitely NOT in love with it... Yet!! I would love new furniture. But can't have it all at once :)

Disclaimer: I have not bought anything for decorating the living room yet. So does anyone have any suggestions for anything in here??

We originally wanted to use blue but I feel like we have a lot of blue in our house so I found these lovely drapes at Lowes and just love the warmth they give! It feels so warm and cozy and I don't even have anything hanging on the walls yet!

Nice choice and happy to see you stepped to another color option. Blues are very nice too. Each room can have it's own identity. Great job!
