We bought a north-facing house last fall. All through the fall, winter, and early spring the beds along the front of the house got zero direct sun, so we planted hostas and hellebores. Almost as soon as we finished planting in May, the angle of the sun shifted enough that those plants started getting sun in the afternoon. The farther into the summer we go, the more sun they get, and it's the worst, hottest sun of the day. The hellebores have completely shriveled to nothing. The hostas are hanging on, but struggling. And also, something is eating them. Maybe deer.

I need suggestions for some low growing plants that can handle extremes of sunlight and temperature. Very little to zero sun for most of the year, but the hottest sun during the hottest time of year. I'm in north Georgia, US, zone 7b-8ish. We have a drip irrigation system set up in that area, so water requirements are flexible.
