Just to be pedantic the plant is Boston Ivy, Parthenocissus tricuspidata, so not true ivy. Unlike Hedera helix it's deciduous. Can be great where it's trained and regularly pruned. But not what you want growing into your gutters and roof.

Wow. Yeah I'd be a bit worried about the effect on the house. It must be nice in the fall though - doesn't BI have nice fall color?

For sure @diggerdee zone 6 CT. Such rampant growth has got to impinge on the effectiveness of the horizontal eavestroughs. And you can see that the ivy covers the windows! And all this ivy must allow for easier access for vermin.

I bet it wouldnt be a simple or inexpensive job to remove it all.

We have Parthenocissus henryana on our house. It needs trimming at least four times a year to keep under control. Creepers on buildings are fairly common here and in mainland Europe. Apart from looking attractive they can help cool the interior. But our buildings are solid walled and don't have siding.
