Would you warn others if they may be in danger?

last modified: last month

Let's say that you were going to catch a plane flight but were informed that the plane may be in danger of a possible attack. So you decide not to get on board, would you not warn others to not to get on board? I would think it would be the right thing to do, you know, just in case, especially if they are co-workers and friends?

Hmmm. My husband and I were just discussing this.

I can’t imagine not warning others. I can’t imagine those who gave the warning not warning everybody.

    Mind boggling.

Same situation in 2000 w/the president at that time. Mind boggling then as well.

So no one was briefed about the danger in 2000 either??? At least if one was briefed they could decide if they wanted to be on that plane.

the majority of people answering this question "yes", are not 1,000% the narcissist the offender in this case is.

I can't imagine, but then I'm not a malignant narcissist.

Clinton’s press secretary posted this on FB, so I just though I’d share the pertinent middle paragraphs here:

“Leaving India tensions were very high among the White House staff and all who protected the President. There was no more dangerous trip or flight into a country during my time at the White House.

At the senior staff meeting the morning we were leaving for Pakistan, the Secret Service presented a plan to reduce the risk of an attack on the President. They planned to use a C-17 to carry the President, staff, service, military and media to Pakistan. (Air Force One was never even considered as a mode of transportation or decoy) The service plan was to load the C-17 up with support staff and media and then have the President get on. The real plan was for him to then secretly get off the opposite side and get on a smaller military jet that could not be seen from the cameras because of the size of the C-17.

That plan simply didn't work for me and I made that clear in the meeting. A couple of us from the WH staff adjourned to the hallway and met with the two top officials in the Secret Service. I made the point clearly and strongly that we could not use the media and other civilians as decoys to protect the President. It was that simple After a tense, yet respectful conversation, the service promised a plan that would addresse their needs, our concerns and certainly what the President would have wanted had he needed to be brought into the conversation.

Which, to their credit, they did. The new plan was to park the C-17 on the tarmac but instead of having the President get on the plan he walked around it in clear view of hundreds of reporters covering the departure. Everyone who was watching there or on TV knew the President wasn't getting on that plane.

What they didn't know was what plane he was getting on. Out of sight behind the C-17 were three small military passenger jets. One was marked with US government markings, the other two had nothing.

The smaller three jets took off first, both the one marked and the two unmarked. The reporters on the C-17 took off last so they could witness the three smaller planes taking off. They knew the President was on one of them, but not which one.”

What a coward that little weasel is, putting his own safety above others.

It’s a daily disappointment, but we live in a different age. ’Unprecedented’ is a euphemism. I wonder if we will ever regain the character, courage, and maturity to return to higher standards.

Plus, why sneak back onto the plane after it landed ? To hide his cowardness is the only possible reason.

Lol, he was shown coming off the plane with everyone else like he'd been on the flight the whole time. What is disgusting is how many people he used as decoys on that plane that flew without him. If there was a threat that was so credible that he was put on a different plane, why did he allow all those people to fly on a targeted plane?!? Coward-in-Chief typically only thinking about himself. He's the laughing stock of the internet - again. I love that for him 😂

" Plus, why sneak back onto the plane after it landed ? To hide his cowardness is the only possible reason. "

The reason is so that the people behind the purported threat can see that you were there like every other flight. It's the same reason Obama dressed in his leisure clothes to "go golfing" and then was snuck back into the WH the day that Bin Laden was attacked and killed. The theatre is for them, not for the American public.

I don't think this shows him being a coward at all - he does what the USSS requires him to do in situations like that, and not wanting to be assassinated doesn't make one a coward. This is from someone who hates him. He is a coward, but I don't think this incident illustrates that.

The problem isn't that he left, the problem is that they didn't tell everyone else involved of the risk, or that they let that plane take off for London at all, rather than maybe claiming mechanical problems and delaying takeoff.

Not telling the civilians on the plane is a direct violation of Department of State regulations, but violating regulations is what this administration does best. The Secretary of State was on board and knew - he could have told everyone, but he didn't.

In the Clinton situation of switching planes, a journalist had been read into the plan, off the record, and - had something gone wrong - would have been able to tell what had been involved.

Exactly. T was doing what the people who are hired to keep him safe told him to do..

The people on the decoy plane should have been told.

The plane shouldn’t have left at all.

Sneak him off. Ground the original flight. Fly him to safety.

On Tuesday, T was asked by reporters why it was considered too dangerous for him to fly on one of the planes usually used as Air Force One while the same did not apply to members of the press.

“The plane that I flew on was at greater risk … because that would be the plane, I think, that they would be more likely to go for,” the president said.

😄 Does this make any sense?

From what I’m hearing the ”threat” was based on low confidence Israeli ”intelligence.” No idea whether knowing it was most likely BS played into how it was handled.

For someone who obviously enjoys describing how weak and ineffective Iran supposedly is now, he sure runs quick like a roach to avoid getting stepped on.

T rarely takes advice or instruction, he follows what he calls his own "common sense", but when it comes to his own safety, sure he'll follow that lead. I question whether the SOS knew, if he did then why allow others to be in danger? I hope that any RW media who boarded that plane are scratching their collective heads today.

“why allow others to be in danger?”

    Indeed
