The only outdoor rug I have purchased is at the entry into our lanai screen enclosure, where we have the doggy door to the fenced yard. I got it to catch the dirt/mud that the 3 dogs were bringing into the lanai pavers. The rug was from Home Depot and cheap! It has worked well as a big door mat! A few times per year I vacuum and wash the lanai pavers and I do the rug at the same time.

I am on the hunt, as well, for a high rated, not over the top expensive and I found this one on amazon. Looks good to me...checks all the boxes. I have indoor/outdoor rugs in the house for my sweet old pup, who is slipping and sliding all over the place. Look great, but I bugger to vacuum. I have to run the vac side ways so the rug doesn't get sucked.

Thanks everyone for your comments. The floral rug is by Addison and is much less expensive. This will be sitting under a large patio/dining table and chairs so the wind isn't going to take it anywhere. The striped rug is by Dalyn and is much pricier. It is one of those rugs that can be used on the inside and outside.

I have had the same outdoor rugs from Chilewich for 18 years one where the dogs go in and out the dog run and one in my outdoor seating area . They hose off easily and look like new for years . They are 2 different types of rug the one for the dogs is thicker and a bit more textured to catch mud and dirt . The oyher very flat .

I had an outdoor rug a few years ago and ditched it. I got tired of having to sweep it off, I have trees near the deck and there's always debris. Debris doesn't seem to "stick" to the deck to the same degree it does to a rug, even an outdoor rug. My deck isn't covered, that probably makes a difference.

Even though I really like the Dalyn rug, I just learned it is not a TRUE outdoor rug and should be used on a covered deck. Mine is not covered . . . I like the sun. So that one is ruled out. Maybe I'll buy a small Addison sample to see it in person.
