This test is really just a simplified Myers Briggs test. I guess it's accurate in that I have taken Myers Briggs a zillion times for work and always scored the same, and I scored the same on this one. I have found Myers Briggs to be pretty accurate in terms of explaining preferences for seeing and dealing with the world.

I took it, and I was not particularly surprised by the results, but I was at how rare my personality type is, about 2% overall. I guess partly because it's a bit contradictory.

Yes, mine is rare, too. 3-5%.

Mine is rare for women (7%) and more common for men.

ESFJ - Several years ago I took a very in-depth MB test and I tend to trust its results. This little quickie came out exactly the same, which surprised me. But I'm glad for the consistency. A couple of things about these tests: Maybe it's my type, but I believe I see what direction each choice is taking me and have a little kernel that makes me wish I were more of the other. And as I get closer to the final horizon, I find my ability to let things just flop around and develop is running low.

It does describe me well, although I don’t know the descriptions of all the other types and if there would be lots of overlapping of traits. I’m sure there are.

I got ENFJ just as I scored on the Myers-Briggs. Its stated it is also rare-ish at 2%-3%

Ha, not toooo rare since I am the same. I find these tests hard bc usually my true answer would be somewhere in between the two options.

My employer made us go to leadership training where we took the full, really long MBTI. That would have been about 15 years ago now.

This short one just rated me exactly the same. So either I am internally consistent, or the test is, or something.

There is only one of the 4 measures where I am sort-of in the middle, the other 3 I am way at the far end of the scale. And there are times I wish I was NOT so far at the end of that scale, you know?

That may be well designed for ease of scoring, but my answer to so much of it was "it depends" and so I stopped. As the subject it feels very poorly designed. Every answer felt like a compromise.

Mtn, I get the frustration with having binary choices, missing the great "it depends" of reality. For instance, I love doing research, and I also love the production part. I selected production, because I am acutely aware of the satisfaction it gives me, taking all the ideas and making them reality. I actually appreciated having A/B choices instead of the sliding scale which always feels too slippery.

ISTJ, which I think is the polar opposite of whatever I was when I was young. I think life and responsibilities cause you to become more practical.

I agree that I fall between the choices sometimes or Id like to know the circumstances. For instance, is a party something being held for business reasons or a social .gathering. Why was I invited the first place?

I was anything but an introvert and quite a risk taker in my younger years.

I took MB during my first career job in my 20s and results were INFJ. At the time, it helped me understand myself better. I’ve taken it a few times since and same results. My kids took it, and I reiterated to them that these tests don’t define you as a person, just explain your tendencies and preferences. I think your mid-20s are the optimal time to take MB, once the brain is fully developed and you can use the self-knowledge to maneuver thru the world.

I haven't done the MB in a very long time but I'm still the same type. There were some questions where I didn't like either answer but I picked one anyway. I guess that works. I just looked at the type and didn't notice the %.

All incoming freshmen at my university had to take the MR assessment. After 66 years, I am still the same type (INFP).

Well, that was interesting. I'm an INFP and after looking it up, it sure describes me.

A lot of it made sense, but.I did find so many questions that really were " it depends". Good example, ded, esp wih repect to the party. It certainly depnds on the crowd whether it's draining or otherwise.

In terms of choosing which answer, do any of you say to yourself ”must choose B because A would make me too dogmatically consistent”?

Lol Lisa, that’s why I advocate for taking it in your 20s before that mindset sets in. I did, and I truly am the oddball it said I was. 😜

Funny they gave us this test in high school as part of college/career guidance. I think my results must have been similar, because back then it suggested accounting as a good college/career path. Of course at the time I looked at the test as psychobabble and who would want to do boring accounting! In hindsight, I would probably have made a good CPA/forensic accountant!

I wonder if refusing to take the test, is a category?

I remember one of the careers it suggested way back in the day was airline pilot. I am a "high functioning" nervous driver. I was an accountant though so there's that.

Mtn, the "real", longer version of this is easier to take in a lot of ways, because it allows you to choose an answer on a sliding scale, which IIRC has some sort of a neutral/can't choose option in the middle.

Taking this test and sharing one's results within the group were mandatory in a leadership retreat I was also forced to attend, probably 15 years ago. Good times. LOL. Although in all fairness, the retreat was one of the more impactful trainings I ever did attend during my career. It's just that my personality type HATES forced group hug-type events, and that retreat was the epitome of everything I hated. I spent a huge chunk of those 5 days quietly muttering obscenities to myself and questioning my career path.
