1. Whatever those are in the back, they look extremely close to the house. Are they fully-grown now?

2. I’d replace the random stone border with something more formal. Since your house is brick, I would use brick. If you can’t find brick, just do a clean-cut trench edge. Looks much more tidy and easier to keep that way.

You just need more plants, particularly on the left. Your wandering Jew should spread, so when it does, stick some on the left. I'd get some more sage for the left, too.

I would not do a trench edge, it takes work to keep it looking tidy. The rocks are fine and will look better when your garden has filled in.

You need a lot of groundcover. All that bare mulch is not appealing. The mulch is overflowing at the low parts and needs to be pulled back to show the rock.

I would line up the front of the stones side-by-side and let the inner side be the jagged parts which would be softened by the groundcover.

On the random-stone border vs. a clearcut-edge, for me a twice a year cleanup on the clearcut edge (15 minutes on a small bed like this) is much less labor intensive than trimming along irregularly shaped stone EVERY TIME one mows the grass. YMMV, of course.

My advice wait a year to see how they grow but water needs shoiuld be pretty close to the smae for all the plants in the bed so make sure about that. I agree the random rocks do not belong in landscaping with that house .The grass seems to be very sad but I have no idea about grass in your Zone.
