If it is staying, I'd free up the floor beneath it with a few matching closed bins or one shallow storage unit, and keep the route from the door clear rather than add another piece of furniture. Keep anything you use up high within easy reach, and don't compromise the bed's guardrail or access ladder for storage. A simple light window covering and fewer loose items on the visible shelves will make the room feel calmer, but neither changes the clearances.
