This is a very old house in a very old neighborhood with a pocket of houses surrounded by what has become sort of liminal spaces: the underside of a bridge, an expressway, an outlet from the expressway. The rest of the area is mixed era industrial turning into adaptive reuse. So lots of demolition around this pocket of houses at various times in the 20th c.

There is one pocket block in Center City like this still extant, but not for long, those houses are going to be demolished.

Anyway the house has had minimal interventions over the years, and I noticed this in the bathroom
