Hi! Soon we will be ripping up the carpet in the living room and are unsure what to do with the stairs. I was thinking of ripping it off and staining the staircase kind of the color it is now and paint the fronts of the stairs white. I'm just not sure if it will look right. What do u all think?

If the staircase in good condition, you could consider refinishing the stair treads and painting the risers. You could also paint the spindles on the railing to give a fresh updated look.

Will it go with the green I have on my walls? The staircase is already like a cherry color I love the look I just worry it won't look right?

We won't be painting the walls so they'll stay green. I just want opinions on whether the white stairs will clash with the green walls.

Do you know what the stairs are made of yet? They could be particle board and osb.

No I haven't pulled the carpet up yet they feel solid not like particleboard. But idk for sure

The engineered woods like high density particleboard and oriented strand board are actually denser and feel more solid than dimensional lumber. You may need to cover them like picture #3.

I think the white will go nicely with your green walls.

Do you plan to paint anything else white? I think it would look odd if white is not used somewhere else in the staircase or railings.

You could also do wood down the sides, and a nice patterned carpet down the middle. ( a stripe would look nice)
