Travisinteriors: bed and bedding is staying, though I think I need darker/richer sheet set. The headboard is more of an ivory/off white color (it does look beige in the pictures). Pictures above bed can be moved but what would you suggest, if anything, I put in their place?

Pcmom1: I agree that curtains are too short. I was thinking of adding some fabric to the bottom, something in black. Not sure yet. Mini blinds do need to be replaced also. Would you suggest white wood blinds?

Black and ivory is a nice combo. Change out panels for sure. Go more glam. Like I said. I still like the taupe gets am ple try next to headboard.

I would do 24" cut glass sunburst mirror over bed. Hang low. Z Galleries has a great one.

Yes, drapes too short and not hung high enough. One large piece of art over bed better than what you have there. Too choppy and have to squint to see it.

Travisinteriors: I was thinking taupe with grey undertones, but there are so many options I was overwhelmed. Do you have any suggestions in Benjamin Moore? I can get samples and see which works best with my lighting. Also I have been looking for black pillows (love tufted!) but not having luck. I found the following picture which I love as inspiration. But I can't find any info on paint color. What does everyone think about it?

It's a owl gray I think. Get it and try. Only way to find out. We could suggest colors all day, wouldn't help.

Maybe SW Library Pewter or other shade on the same color strip card.

One thing to think about is putting up a grass cloth wallpaper on that one wall. One with some sheen. Nice straight wall wouldn't be difficult to do. And the color you see is the color you get. Doesn't bite you! Paint color can change up on you!

I love a pastel room and your light blush solid quilted bedding, black accessories, pictures, and chandelier are awesome! Since the room is small I would paint the bed wall the same as the bedding and the rest white, your tufted headboard with still be dramatic and show in your dreamy room. Your room will appear larger and you will still love it for years to come!

Think of the color of your bedding as a red with yellow mixed in and white to make it light. Coral and peach also have varying amounts of red, yellow and white.

You could move your rod down to the trim of the window so the curtains reach closer to the floor.

I thought you wanted a lighter color? Pic with round mirror over bed is quite dark, unless you use with accent wall only.

I have had great success with BM Revere Pewter----perfect taupe/grey tone.

I think your panels should be in a color more in line with the headboard and bedding: a blush pink or ivory.

Suzanne Powers: any specific colors in Benjamin Moore along those lines that you would recommend?

Pcmom1: I actually saw another pic on houzz with walls painted in what the designer called "striae" finish that looked a lot like the wall paper you are suggested. The designer had a neutral base color on the wall and then went over it with a sheer glaze for that sheen effect. I was thinking of a neutral gold or pewter glaze as a possibility, but still need a base color.

Cdrdesign & darzy: the dark color in the curtain is pretty much black, or brown/black. I think it would be too dark and harsh. The pic can be deceiving, it doesn't appear that dark in the pic but it is. Otherwise that would be a great suggestion. Thank you!

Cdrdesign: I was actually looking at revere taupe, it seems to be a designer favorite. I'm just not sure if it is too much of a cool tone because I think my room (ie. bed and bedding) is warm tone. Should paint color be warm or cool on your opinion?

If you love the drapes, maybe get bolder rods hung lower as Suzanne suggested, and out a little further from wall then hang from clips to lengthen a bit more.

As has been discussed above, I definitely think you need to lower the drapes with bolder rods hung lower and maybe clips so the drapes reach the floor. I agree that a bed accent wall would look very nice and a fairly dark charcoal like your inspiration room (but only the one wall) might be just right. I would do just those two things first and then re-evaluate. That might be all that is needed to make the room look really nice. The art above the bed might look quite nice is that wall is painted charcoal, but if not, nothing is needed there.

If you decide to paint the one accent wall, please don't be afraid to go pretty dark. It will offset the headboard nicely and I bet you'll love it.

-panels are not set correctly. fore example, left panel s/b pulled to the left. It should be covering only the window trim and a small amount of the pane. Next one over s/b pulled to the left. It should cover the right side of the left window trim and the right side of the center window trim. Instead, it is pulled way to the right.


I think, at this point, you need to ask yourself and let us know the answers to these questions:

1) Is the rest of your house monochromatic?
2) If not, what colors do you have? You need to keep the whole house that same vein
3) Can't see your spread color. What is it? Does it match your headboard?

That striae finish should be lovely!

1) the crest if the house is not monochromatic. The other colors are neutral classics I would say (eg. Arizona tan, Bryant gold)

2) the bedspread is a beige/gold color, sort of a champagne color I would say. The headboard is and off-white/cream color, it appears beige in the photo though because of lighting I suppose.

Cdrdesign: I used to have my bathroom in a real color but I painted over it. Teal just isn't my favorite color. I like it in theory and I can appreciate it in photos or other homes, but I just don't think it's for me. I was also thinking that I wanted my bedroom to be more cozy & relaxing which I guess I don't associate with "color". Any suggestions for more neutral paint colors?

The J HIrsch photo above is BM Revere Pewter. You can get a chip and see if you like it. I don't think you have to have an accent wall. You can decide that after you paint. If you hang a piece of art over the bed, I don't think accent wall is necessary.

Here are some combos you might want to try that I thought are close to your inspiration photo:

Best to go to paint store and pick up some chips and start the process. Once you narrow it down to a couple, buy a piece of drywall and paint it and see if you like it.

How about this for accent wall? SW 7545. If you don't prefer SW paint, you can take their chip to whatever paint store you prefer and they can make you that custom color. Btw, I love your bedding and colors-just got the Bombay drapes and hung in my LR.
