i love the new bed I want one like it!
This is a first for me - I like the before better. The after makes me think of Beetlejuice and dreary weather.
When winter sets in with grey skies and cold temps, I bet it won't be long before these home owners are scrambling for something to add warmth to their very cold and sterile bedroom colors. Sorry to be negative about the new room, but I'd much prefer the warm, homey feel of the "before" bedroom.
i like the new room, but wonder why there were two chairs, and now only one, in the sun room? that made me a little sad :(
  • 12 years ago
@ lwaylett, I can't help but agree :(. The room has pretty things in it, but is still somehow sterile. It looks staged, devoid of personality and character.

Oh, not a fan of over tufted heavy sleigh beds that are way too heavy in appearance and weight.
It's beautiful and sophisticated. I do wonder why you went from 2 chairs to 1 in the nook. I would expect nothing else than to have a perfectly 'staged' after photo. You worked hard to make a beautiful change and it is photo ready!

    Beautifully done! Bravissimo!

maybe change or repaint the night stand and the tall chest? otherwise, good job!
It's beautiful and luxurious. Don't listen to naysayers about warmth. You can easily change up the bedding & accessories if you ever feel the need...

The before pic is more my style, but the after is absolutely gorgeous!! I think the big tufted sleigh bed looks warm and comfy. Love the chaise in the nook and the chandelier adds such an elegant touch. Well done!!

The before picture is from the previous owners. Definately not my style. We don't actually sit in the sitting room. Wo has time for that when you have kids.. I had a similar color in the master bedroom of my previous house and never got tired of the color. I took the pictured with my ipad, so the color does look darker in the picture than it actually is in person.

Beautiful...love the palette of grey and white, maybe a larger mirror over bed to compliment the amazing headboard..Great job!!!

I feel the same way about the mirror being not quite large enough. It was over the fireplace in the master bedroom in my last house, and I love the detail on it and was hoping to use it in the new house. I'm keeping my eyes open for a replacement. Any suggestions?

I absolutely love your bed! May I ask, did you find it at a retail store or is it a custom piece? I have been shopping for a bed like yours for a couple of years. Thank you

No professional help on this one. I'd love to have someone come in and do the accessorizing. I'm not good at that!

I love it... clean and crisp but the design just needs finishing touches. It would really look perfect with some pops of color. Maybe a bright throw, small bright accents on the shelves or some colorful accent pillows. Even though it is so very pretty as it is, it just seems like you forgot to put hints of your personality that we see in the before picture back into the room and that will make it beautiful.
The before picture was the previous owner. They lived here for 12 years so had a lot of time to personalize. I would love to add another accent color. I haven't found just the right thing yet. I tend to get stuck at this point in a room. I'm not very good with the finishing touches. I'm definately open to suggestions on how to finish thing off, so feel free to make suggestions.
My bedroom started as a basic black and white pallet. I decided to make the pop of color fun. I chose a bright green as my accent color and over time started collecting decor in that color. I got some crazy figurines, throws, accent pillows, frames an accent wall and sheets in the green i chose and it came together pretty good. Now I am getting tired of the green and might start over with a shade of blue. The good thing is that I never got tired of the black and white base color pallet I created so changing it up is not a huge endeavour. I love the grey on your walls so I might try that too!

I found the bed! Thank you again. I was wondering if you are satisfied with the quality? Since there are none on any of the floors at Macy's in my area I would be ordering it from just a photo. Are you happy with the fabric and the construction of the bed? Thank you again.

I've been very happy with the bed!

Re: removing the extra chair - we put a love seat in our bedroom BECAUSE WE HAD KIDS!!!!! A place to actually be alone and talk!!!
Awesome Job really beautiful!!! If you changed the knobs of the furniture to black or silver it will totally pull the flow of the room together. Love everything you choose. If you have a hobby lobby their drawer pulls and knobs are always half price and they have an amazing variety. It will make the dresser and night stand look custom for the room a cheep upgrade
  • 12 years ago
Also if you have a Target close by they have packets of 12 knobs in a variety of style in black silver or bronze. Great price
  • 12 years ago
I'm definitely not that great at accessorizing either, but I love the clean uncluttered look of the room. The older I get, the less I like "fussy", so I appreciate the simplicity of your room. It's very tranquil. In time you'll fill those shelves and dresser top with meaningful objects, not decorators tchotchkes.

I have already changed the knobs on the furniture to a crystal and silver. You can't really see them in the original photos. Here is an up close picture of the current knobs. Do you think these work?
