A couple of girls said their granite chipped and was hard to take care of made me sad because this is what I had decided on? Now I'm worried about my choice, but thank you for your comment.

I have granite in my kitchen. I do not like it for a number of reasons.
I have quartz in the we bar and love it…but it is not inexpensive.

This product may be what you are looking for in durability and cost…you do have to like the recycled glass in the pattern. I like it in the black, but not the whites and lights.

"Curava is stain resistant, scratch resistant and heat resistant. It stands up extremely well to hot pans and spills. With a little care and regular maintenance, even the hardest working Curava countertop will stay beautiful for years to come.”

Then, even more budget minded, is the new installs for laminates with the bull nose edges. Not bad, IMO.

We have granite in my home and have never faced any issues with it! I heard that black granite gets some white scratches, and this was the only complaint i ever heard about it.

thank you both for the comments iamjudy I have never heard of this type counter but you can bet I'm seriously going to check it out that sounds wonderful. I have large floor tiles on my countertop now and I have to say its withstood endless time and never chipped stained or anything I still love them but wanted to update the look?

FYI, The counter above, in grey tones, called Dolce Vita 3240-46 is from Formica 180fx line. You can order free samples in 12 x 12" from their website. They do have some amazing looks in that line. I just recently went with the Petrified Wood and it is gorgeous. If you do decide on that, try to get to a distributer first to see what the large sheets look like before. It is hard to tell from swatches. The black one looks like it is made with glass chips in it. very dramatic too.

I love the idea of the recycled glass its just want I need. I sit things that come right out of my oven on my glass tiles now so that would work super. Thank you so much we need to start doing some looking and calling now.

SUNSHINRKS, I just returned from the countertop shop and say the counters in person. A very nice substitution for the granite. There was one I did not like at all….looked like one of the fruity nougat candies.

Oh that is amazing I hope I can find some here in the Wichita Ks area thank you so much for the picture and post
