Personally, I would use different ones.

Using different rugs will help separate the spaces... the best option though is to find two rugs that coordinate with each other. Typically manufacturers produce "collections" of rugs; these collections will have the same material, weave, pricing, etc. Most times they will also use the same color palette throughout the collection so the items work well with each other.
