do you have photos of holiday décor that you have done for your own home (or for friends and family)? a client would want to see your work, not somebody else's I would imagine.

Agreed, your own place would be a great experimental and design showcase for potential clients.

I only have pics of my parents home decorated. I am 24 so don't really have anything to show. I guess I need to find a few friends to let me help decorate for them.

Some charities have holiday tree decorating events where various designers decorate a tree, then donate to a charity for auction. It's a great way to get some publicity and donate to a good cause at the same time. If you're very creative, it shouldn't cost a lot of money to decorate a tree that truly reflects your ideas.
