Laurence Tillett. I am leaning towards sheers with panels because I love light..privacy is not a issue..it just needs to feel finished..yes, I was planning of fixing the rug so the chairs touch it..it's a bit smaller than I wanted but I loved it and the price was right.

carolins. Hahahaha. I fell in love with SW Underseas, made all of the pillows on the couch, wanted chairs that wouldn't block the view and found these on Overstock..it's been a labor of love but I love how it turned out. I had to mute the floor a bit..I found the table online at Island Living and Decor in California.

I love what you've done. That wall colour is so much better. And the rug is great, so are the pillows and the coffee table. The lamp and the art on the wall.... It looks calm and relaxed and warm and inviting. Lovely room!

Laurence's suggestion of bamboo Roman shades was what came to my mind too. And maybe panels on the sides too, to make it feel more 'dressed'.

Forgot to mention the chairs :-) Nice choice!

Panels on ends only no sheers to dated. Add a bamboo shade for texture. Lowes carries or Home Depot.

Hmm... on second thoughts... Roman shades will probably only look good on your window if you leave them down, covering the top part of the windows. That will block too much light I think. So... sheers? But open, not closed...

Very nice room. Love the the chairs. The roman shades would completely cover the windows. I would opt to have the light shine through so I would add panels only to frame the window and sheers only if privacy is an issue.

Are you planning to hang them to the window height or all the way up to the ceiling? In any event, the windows look really tall so you may need to get custom panels. I think 108" is the maximum length you could get off the shelf.

Keep it light - you only need something to soften the edges of the window and filter light.

carolins, Monica Ellison love that spa look in the photo you posted..I actually found some beautiful sheers in a light brown weave..but I think the window definitely needs some color to bring it into the room so to speak.. the chairs came with a dark brown fabric which I replaced for a striped beachy look..

Monica Ellison! the window treatments will go floor to ceiling...the windows are almost as high as the ceiling and maybe two feet off the floor. I think the window will be much more grand if they are floor to ceiling..

What colors are you considering? I was thinking coral or terracotta.

Monica Ellison Yes coral or terra cotta is perfect in this room. I am going to take one of my pillows with me to match the color. Unless it's very understated, I think the side panels will need to be a solid color otherwise it will be too busy. I saw a lovely cream with coral print but it can't be the whole drape. Maybe just at the top of the drape or the bottom with everything a solid in between .

Or another idea:

Consider a coat of emerald green on that feature wall. Emerald drapes, emerald vase or bowl, white floor to ceiling sheers. Lose darker brown throw cushions on sofa. Cheers:)

Yes, I agree paint the right hand wall in a much brighter color, also cover some of the dark floor tiles with a nice light colored rug. As for the window coverings, I would install a long and elegant curtain pole so that when you add the curtains they can be drawn back away from the window on both side, thereby allowing the maximum amount of natural sunlight into the room. You could also look at some of the latest internal natural sunlight solutions, that too will help brighten up the room a lot.

Maybe just a few more pillows...kidding, of course! Consider something simple and clean like this

One thing that jumps out at me is that the room is heavily weighted on the sectional side. Don't know if swapping places with sofa and chairs would help. Love your chairs but skirted or upholstered chairs might give a better balance.

What about that poor person lounging. No where to put their drink...thin table on that end of sofa would help.

Back to what you asked advise for - window treatment:
I see 2 problems with the window:
- it is too big for the size of the room and the furniture
- it is disproportionately divided
My advise is to cut the window into two parts by adding a plaster "beam" (see my rough photo illustration). Then - all the pictures on both adjacent walls should be rearranged into 2 groups - "above" and "below" the new beam.
Then - you can also add some decorative curtains on the lower part of the beam, even-though I prefer the "naked" curtainless look.
