I highly recommend IKEA kitchen cabinets! They are of very good quality, fit and finish. We design and install around six IKEA kitchens a month in addition to other IKEA products. The price for the value can't be beat. Don't forget a 25 year warranty and they are up to 20% off through November 30th. Most contractors like the pre-fab cabinets because they don't have to assemble them. This keeps their time down and saves them money. Keep in mind all cabinets, including kraftmade cabinets were at one time knock down. Someone put them together. I hope this helps.

I just wanted to add that as a designer, Ikea is the worst to work with as far as customer service(as Jr said above).
KraftMaid has a lifetime warranty...not just 25years (with a lot of stipulations). And KraftMaid is made in America.
And regarding the "All cabinets were knockdown at one time" its not the same by no means... KM is assembled in a Plant (as are cars...and i dont think if you sent me all the pieces to a car I could assemble it as sturdy as if it was actually put together by with Glue, syncs and finish nails). The only time I would recommend RTA cabinets is for exporting only...i.e. why do you think Ikea sells them this way. You get what you pay for... always remember that.
My recommendation is that you look into the build of any cabinet line you are interrested in purchasing... not just the doors and colors...Do research on the construction of cabinets and you will find out that RTA (ready to assemble) and frameless are not the way to go if you want sound cabinets.
Sorry to be so defensive, but I love KraftMaid. Also, KB+B Magazine rated KraftMaid the best semi-custom cabinets in 2013.

In my opinion IKEA makes very good products at fantastic prices. The final product is a direct reflection of the time and talent used in the assembly.
Take your time and assemble the furniture correctly. If the assembly is out of your comfort zone, then hire a professional to do it for you.
The furniture is built similarly to pre-assembled furniture, which is more expensive due to assembly, shipping and warehousing costs. You save by assembling it yourself or hiring the job out. IKEA delivers quality cabinets and furniture when assembled correctly.

Comparing cabinets to assembling a car as one commented is not realistic. Just think about it.

For what it’s worth, my father has been a carpenter for years designing and installing kitchens. He feels the Ikea brand cabinet is a strong quality cabinet. My husband and I have designed and were the general contractors for a custom home. We had all of our cabinets custom made using high quality hardware. We didn’t find them much better quality than the Ikea cabinets. We now live in a custom built home with Kraft Maid Cabinets. I’m not impressed. In fact I was surprised by the cheap quality Craft Maid cabinets the builder used for the kitchen, laundry room and all of the bathrooms; the most important rooms in the house.
