It has been drying since early morning,forgot to mention that.When I did my first sample..the color was light grey,when I applied it,and never changed.

Yes shook the can first..yes second sample on wall,and it turned a very dark tan

Are samples close enough to join them into one big sample with more paint?

Sure feel like returning it to the store!!! When I did my 1st sample last week..yes I did a large area,and it was a perfect color.For some crazy reason,today I decided to try another,now I am glad I did or NOT!!!With the same lighting,nothing changed I did my sample today,in another are of the room.I have done this so many times before and never had this happen,such as this change in color,in same room.Thx

The key words are "another part of the room".
Individual areas receive light differently, so 2 areas can look very different.
Try looking at another room in your house and isolate with your eyes a corner in the room, them look to another part of the room that gets more light, you'll see the difference. When the paint is joined as in whole room painted, those differences just look like shadows within the same color.

Did you shake can a lot before using. Does old sample look the same or did it change too?

Agree with Judy M. This color responds to the natural and electric lighting very differently in each room. A room with lots of natural light will mimic the Revere Pewter Sample and is quite lovely, but in North facing rooms or hall ways it can become very dark and sometimes a blue grey.. Good to do a sample before buying a gallon.

This room gets tons of natural light that is why I went for this lovely color.

i loved that color but when i brought home to my house and painted it on the wall looked totally different. Didn't even look grey.

I just painted my guest bedroom this color and it changes gray blue, pewter gray, taupe but I like all the colors so it works.

What I found different was..I dd a huge wall sample the 1st time,and it was a lovely light grey,I get lots of light in there.And to paint another sample not so far away and for it to change so much.Yesterday I did a sample in the hallway and it was light grey,very nice.So not sure with this color.

decoratinglade5 It is a tricky one, but when it turns out like the chip it is a lovely "now" color, although it has been around for a long time.

I used Revere Pewter in my kitchen and dining room and I love it. It is a chameleon! It can look purple-ish, beige-ish, blue-ish, even green-ish depending on the lighting, drapery and accessories. I love it and I'm so happy I used it.

Yes it is a lovely color when it is not a dark tan Lol!!! I had my share of tans and beiges,and love this color when it is a grey..it will all work out in the end.Not giving up on it yet
