Many people regret it especially women. When not on it is a big black rectangle, and when it's on it is very distracting if you are reading etc. For me it really ruins the beautiful ambiance of a fireplace. Find another location if you can.

We had the same option and chose to hang the tv on the wall with an adjustable bracket. The adjustable part was great because we can arrange the furniture in different styles and still see the tv. The beauty of the fireplace is not ruined due to a big black rectangle. Hang it elsewhere if you can.
