Blinds VS Curtains

Are you a blinds or curtains type of person?

    I have both. Here it gets hot in Summer. We need to insulate. The last guy who was too Blind to see that, well lets just say it was Curtains for him. Sheer waste. Name of Rod. Great guy, ran Rings around the others. Got hit riding his bike, he wasnt wearing a Pelmet. The funeral was Fitting, they Draped the casket with damask. And back at the house they had Honeycomb and the beer flowed until it Puddled on the floor. And it was Lace (d ) with gin. Then they all Blockout. No one was Vertical. not even the Venetians. Still there is always a silver Lining if you just Weight, and cover your Tracks. I know you're all (y)Awning, so I will Shutter up.

      I like both!
      Blinds give a seamless/cohesive look for the house from the exterior, plus when you really dont want any light coming in/out through curtains alone (at night you can see through curtains into the home).
      Curtains give a finished look to the intertior of the home.

      Both!! Blinds for light reduction, and curtains to soften the blinds and allow some light in the afternoon

      I always use both. With the choice in blinds nowadays, there is always something pretty out there and the softness of drapery panels cozies ups the room.

      Blinds are my favorite. They're easy to use and you have 100% privacy especially if your windows face a busy street or far and near neighbors.

      I like both. It depends on the room as well. I still don't have any window treatments (just the cheap paper ones for now). I wanted to do sheers and drapes (for me, drapes and curtains are the same thing). I did that in the kids room so they could take naps. Now, I want to do modern blinds and sheers on top (with the exception of the office where roller blinds are enough). I'll have to do this soon, but finding someone who will do something nice and do it at a reasonable price is not easy.

      Actually, I need to rephrase..no blinds..I was referring to shades (Roman, roller, etc). I don't like blinds..even those Hunter Douglas honeycomb..they look like the paper ones that I have.

      I like windows with layers. Blinds or cellular shade as the foundation with drapes as an accent that can be drawn if desired. Like wearing clothing, layers are totally practical

      Mostly Roman shades and shutters for me but simple drapes are nice in a dining room.

      All of the above? In the house I'm working on now I suspect there will be curtains, blinds, roller shades, and indoor shutters depending on the room. (Trying to balance allergy needs with not having a house that feels too hard and sterile.)

      Roman shades are my favorite, blinds and shutters come in second. If I must deal with them, curtains very nearly always irritate me...yet, I appreciate them on everyone else's windows.

      I voted for blinds. But heavy curtains in winter may provide extra insulation. I would like someone to invent blinds that have a R value assigned to them. This will make the blinds serve more than one purpose

      I don't like curtains or drapes. To me they are dust-catchers and I like the simplicity of either blinds, shades, or shutters. We have all three of those in our house. I'd have shutters everywhere but couldn't afford them. However, I chose shutters for the LR, DR, kitchen, and master BR. For the remaining rooms, except the bathrooms, we have blinds. The bathrooms and entry doors, which have glass windows, have shades.

      I like both actually. In fact I am in that situation right now. I believe in the living room I am putting up faux wood blinds, sheers and draps that can be pulled back. I think that will give an elegant look. I love wood, and the more I can have it in a home the better. The real wood blinds are very beautiful but the faux wood is nice too.

      I like both the functionality of blinds and the softness of drapes. However, I wouldn't do curtains on every window. Nor am I a fan of puddling curtains...my cats would think they are their own personal fort and snooze station.
