Sounds like my kitchen (3 doors, no counter space, only way into the laundry and out to the back yard.) When you have so many constraints, it can be difficult to do anything that ends up being really useful or feeling good without getting into custom work.

A few general pieces of advice: (1) everything below desk height should either be shallow and open or should pull out; (2) because it is a small and complicated space, keep it as visually simple as you can: continuous lines are good, visible hardware should stay as quiet as possible; (3) ease of access and use always trumps fancy materials in my book. Nobody was ever made miserable by a lack of wood grain, but, people are frequently made miserable because they don't put things away because to do so would require an extra step or two; (4) lighting is important.

If you aren't planning on hiring an interior designer (which I think would be worth doing) you might look for a closet company that provides design services along with the fabrication. You want somebody who knows or is at least willing and able to research dimensions.

Definitely. I would build the whole thing in.
