Outdoor pool area

Hey guys,
So we're renovating our outdoor area as the walls were not properly sealed behind when the house was built. Attached are some photos of the worst wall, behind the pool and as you can see the stacked stone is popping off and has also become rusty. The two sides of the pool aren't equal (absolutely kills my OCD haha) and hence I'm looking to remove the stone and put another type that doesn't rust across the whole lower wall behind the pool.
I'm going to put two urns in the 1.5 m deep garden bed with some topiary cones either side.
My questions are
1) does anyone know a stone that would look beautiful on the back wall that is NOT impacted negatively or eroded by the salt water pool?
Sandstone is beautiful but I really don't want to have to seal it every year
2) any good ideas for the garden bed behind the pool? Urns/topiary
3) also any ideas on how to make that back wall pop / become a feature? Like ways to light it to make it a feature (obviously lights up the urns in the bed)
There's a fountain that isn't visible in the photo that shoots into the pool
I would love to change it to a more elegant one but this isn't on the agenda hah

4) any other comments would be appreciated!!
Thanks!
