Entry/dining rug dilemma

My entry is next to my dining. I hate the "matchy-matchy" combo that I currently have. I like the round shape for the entry, as rooms tend to be boxy. My dining can take 9x12 and the entry can go as large as 6'. I have gorgeous walnut floors and nice (but boring) cream glazed walls. I love pops of color, which I've incorporated with art. Rugs are my challenge? We live on a beautiful acreage, so I lean toward earthy design. Thank you,

Check out homedecorators.com - great selection and sometimes good sales. You can shop by style, material, color, size, etc.

Go a bold color like peacock, then add same in dining but go a print in there. You have no color. Mix it up. So not so boring.

How about no dining room rug? Add two host/hostess chairs with a great fabric. For the hall, fill the space with rug.

If it were my place, I would look at some traditional oriental or tribal rugs in deeper colors, rather than rugs that matched the walls. They will feel related to one another without matching, and will enrich the space.

I would eliminate the rug in the ding room altogether. I don't see that it is needed. You have beautiful floors, so no need to cover them. I would also take away all of the chairs in the foyer and put a round pedestal table under the hanging light. I think it would look stunning! Best of luck!

IMO it should either blend with the chairs or the wood floor/table color - Right now being thats its too light is not working for me. Something simple that can take the wear ...... maybe a hemp/jute rug

I like Judy's idea to get end chairs for the dining table in a bold colour, or even pattern since the other chairs are solid navy.

Fantastic floors. I think I would like to see deeper color rugs with the colors of the dining room chairs, and the wall color in the room we can see a peek of in the background. It looks to be burgundy or plum. Coordinating rugs with the deeper jewel tones.

Beautiful floors. If you want rugs go in for some bolder or brighter colors the creams blend in.. With the floors and the trim you have a lot of warmth. To bring both the yin and the yang into the room go in for some cool bold colors. Even if the rugs have a predominant warm color pick something with shots of bold blue in it. Then pick up the color either in some pillows for the entry chairs or other small accessories

Thanks for all your suggestions! Keep em coming. Here's a different perspective on the same room (love my bull from Cabo) plus the adjacent library. BTW, the two missing dining chairs (same as others) were back ordered. Thanks again.
