First step? Take down the greenery and consider leaving the mantle blank. Oh! Did you have tall red candles on the coffee table once? Maybe those would work on the mantle.
Put wood in the fire basket.

Just a thought and I apologize if this has been mentioned or if you have said there is a reason for not doing this, but what about the two chairs in front of the window with a table and lamp between them and the love seat moved across from the couch. That will open up the fireplace and I love the look of chairs in front of a window instead of feeling like it is blocked with a bigger piece of furniture.

How might your mirror look there?

If you have anything that lays more horizontally, it will fill the space over the loveseat better. The square pic. might be joined w something else to get that effect, too.

abbyjean could do it that way. But if I do it that way one of the sofas would be in front of fire place. There is also a tv in that room , that you don't see . It is a nice size room 17"20 room

Thanks studio10001 for your suggestions also. Trying to pull this room together on a tight budget just brought this house a year and a half go. working with old pieces that I had. Also going to vintage and thrift shops to find little odds and ends :)

I was thinking the couch and the love seat could go across from each other instead of side by side? But no couch in front of the fireplace......you need to enjoy it, too. The chairs do not totally block it.

In addition to the the great thoughts above, try fewer pillows. I noted that the lamps are about the same color as the red pillows. Try removing a few pillows and try not using the red pillows right next to the red lamps so there's not so much competition for attention between the two. Also, the retro end tables look to be a bit dark. You might want to consider having mirrors cut to match the tops tops - it will not cost much and you could try one to start with to see if you like the look and how it brightens the tables and lightens up the space - or consider painting them. Also, given the pattern in the sofa and love seat materials, try using a nice mirror in the room rather than a large framed picture, saving some frames, perhaps, for family photos that could grace your space. If you love it, do it. Best.

Angelina Vick, I'm glad to hear you are feeling better. Some what settling down with some of my progress, still work in progress . I most say it is a challenge.

I think slow changes are better. When things are too drastic and too fast, the shock of the difference can be unsettling. Slow changes, you have a chance to absorb if the things you are adding are actually working, one by one....it will end up the way you want it. =)

I understand the idea of wanting a piece that is flexible to move around in your home.
However, choosing a piece is usually individual to the size you need to to be for the space, and it looks like you need a pretty decent sized painting above the couch.

I can't attach a link for some reason, but Ballard Designs has some large round clocks. Some are pretty pricey. They also have some nice European "style" artwork. I've ordered from them before - not lately - but I was pleased with everything I ordered.

There are many sources to get art and you do not need to spend an arm and a leg. Urban Loft, and Art.com are just a couple suggestions. Have fun with it.
